I think those that frequent this forum know what cars RX8 owners dislike, because they've stated their various reasons for not liking them. (z-space/look/quality, G35-quality/looks, sti/evo-looks, TL-fwd, etc)

I assume that people who purchase alike may also think alike. So what COMPARABLE cars do 8 owner's like? Or is the 8 the only car worth getting in all of your eyes? By comparable I mean similar model year, price, performance, aesthetics, etc.

Keep in mind here that I'm asking you what cars you DO like, so please don't post stupid hate messages. There are enough of those on the rest of the threads on this board.

I myself own a 350z as you can see and the comparable cars that I like are by rank:

Tie for first:
1. S2000
1. Acura TL...it is in my opinion the ultimate all around car for this price
3. G35c
4. RX8
5. TT

...and in no particular order: 330ci, A4, 9-3 aero

No of that sounds comparable! :)

Other new cars I considered if I did not get my RX-8 were a S2000 and 350Z.

I also considered getting a 94 RX-7, keeping my 97 Eclipse, or buying a 97 240SX.

If I did not have to contend with financing and the pain of registering a kit car, www.eliseusa.com would allow me to import a VX220 for around $30k which still crosses my mind.

probably the g35 coupe was my second choice

In terms of classic cars the 1970 240Z is one of my all time favories.

Interms of new cars I considered the S2000, Rx-8 and 350Z.

I have a 3rd gen Rx-7 that I'm keeping so it was a no brainer what car to buy. The only car I may sell my Rx-7 for is a new lotus elise, and even thats debatable.

Having said that I think performance and functionality wise the G35C is a close match with the Rx-8, it also has the closest interms of interior/ride/luxury. It just lacks a little in the sporty department.

There are alot of choices today when you go to buy a car, and each of the Japanese sporty cars in the 30-35K range have something special to offer.

Some of those cars may be just a little out the RX8's price range (except the RX8, obviously:p). All the rest are sweet cars apart from the Cayene IMO.

I was just curious, which is your favorite RX-8 competitor?

Now, I know that some of these cars aren't really competitors, but still, lets have some fun keeping this poll varied.

I merged these two threads becasue they were almost identical and a poll is a nice addition to this thread, even if all cars are not represented.

Personally, the Rx-8 was going against a 2002 BMW 325ci. I ended up going the an Auto 8 with Touring Pkg for the same price. I think I made the right choice :D . Besides the Rx-8 I prefer BMWs over anything else. My dad owns a 760i V12:eek: and my mom drives the X5 4.4i I like the 350z also, but to be honest--- all Mazda's suck except the RX-8.

RX8 - of course! We wouldn't be HERE if we didn't love it.
Lotus Esprit - Do you mean the Roger Moore Bond car? Hmmm...
Aston Martin DB7 - Yes, ONE of the best looking cars ever!
Tiburon - yeah, Good for the price.
GTO - is that the one we designed here in Australia? Nice...
SL600 - Wow!

Okay, so I'd probably love the G35 if only I knew what it was. Maybe I'm a bit out of touch in this part of the world.

The only other car to add is the MK IV SUPRA!!! Yum!!! :p

I was looking at the G35, WRX, & RX8, I was buying a G35 after Test Driving the RX8... Until I drove the RX8 6MT, with the salesman telling me it beeps at 9k rpm, need less to say, he won't say that on another test drive... Guess he wasn't into white-knuckle test drives "BE, BE, BE-Carefullll" LOL. I have not stopped smile'in since i picked it up the next afternoon!!

I like all Esprits from the Bond car up to the last of the run 2004 models.

The G35 is an Infiniti in the USA. Its the Skyline in Japan, but I have no idea what it is called, or even if it is sold in Austrailia.

The Nissan Skyline has been sold in Australia for many years, but has never come close to Nissan's 240 - 350Z series, or the Sylvia. Still, someone's gotta like it I guess.
