I want to say that 'Tarzan, the Ape Man' included Bo Derek nude scenes, automatically excluding it from any such list. To a teenager, like me at the time, I must add, it got at least an A minus. :D

To the kids today, we didn't have the internet back then.....

Peter Greenaway is on my list of people who happen to stumble across the rifle range where I am holding a loaded rifle . . . I pull the trigger.

That guy has NEVER made a good movie, and it's only because of the super artst pretentions of the British Film Institute that he ever got a budget for a movie anyway. Two and a half hours into that dog, I looked at the friend I was with and said," Correct me if I'm wrong, but all of this s&%t is only a cheesy retelling of Genesis." What a rip. I hope that his Belly of an Architect is choking on a Draughtsman's Contract. Blah!!!!!!

Geez, guess I've got some issues about it.

Now, Plan 9 From Outer Space . . . that's art!

that movie was hella fun. That scene where they were asking for people with flight experience....

"Well you see sir, I was abducted by them. I've been wanting to get back at them for along time".

I loved that movie, totally cheesy but great none the less.

I loved Mars Attacks, I went with 6 people to see it 2 of us loved it and 4 hated it. When they were walking around with the translator saying do not run we will not harm you and just blowing people away I couldn't stop laughing. I guess you just have to have a really odd sense of humor to like Mars Attacks. Also knowing it was a satire of that piece of crap Independence Day, and a homage to the wonderfully campy 50s UFO movies helps in the enjoyment.

I don't see Haloween III on the list, which is just about as bad as it gets for movies. Though movies like Waterworld and Battlefield earth with their big budgets deserve even more ridicule.

You're thinking of Alien Resurrection there. Alien3 was awesome (not as awesome as Aliens, but I loved it anyway.)

I didn't see Pet Cemetary 2 or Death Becomes Her in there. Both movies were like a long, slow kick in the balls...

yes, this denotes that this list was obviously compiled from information gathered by the unknowledgable and film-ignorant, not that it's a crime or anything (i'm a part of the unwashed masses myself, i just know better than to think i know better than those who do know... better... than i do). seriously, Ishtar and Battlefield Earth are regarded by those in the know as some of the most absolutely worst movies ever made.

nearly all movies made are mediocre. there are certain characteristics about the really REALLY bad ones, and the actually really good ones, that make the difference... most of the movies on that list haven't that certain something to really set it apart from other bad movies (especially "you got served"... definitely not the #1 worst movie ever, but gets the most votes because it's known to the most voters)

Since y'all are wanting to put other movies on the list, we need to remove movies from the list. I already mentioned Tarzan, now I'll add Pokemon, the first movie. The movie did suck, but the intro was outstanding - Pokemon vacation baby!!!

Alright, I'll spare a movie, Freddy Got Fingered. That movie is just too bizarre, gross, and out there to be one of the worst ever, plus there are some funny parts. It's at least got a little appeal because you will say throughout the movie "I can't believe they just did that" from the pure shock value of some of the scenes. Being shocking is something none of the other movies listed achieve, unless you consider shockingly bad or boring.

thanks for that kind word to one of my favourite comedic artists.
i think you kinda get the gist of why he's funny... it's really not Tom that's funny, it's the reaction: how you, or in most cases with his earlier work, the subject he was being weird to, responds to what he's doing. that's the funny bit... anyways, Freddy Got Fingered sucked ass because Rip Torn (the actor that played his dad) is a moron, and doesn't understand Tom's comedy at all. he ruined that entire movie. replace Mr. Torn with someone who can A) act and B) be funny and it's an entirely different production.

There are inherent difficulties in compiling such a list of the worst movies. The voters should have an appreciation for all styles of film, from artsy stuff to the most trite Hollywood trash, so they won't discount any movie because they don't like the style. Then, they'd have to have a morbid curiosity and/or slightly twisted sense of humor as to actively seek out these horrible movies. Actually, now that I think of it, I'm very close to being one of these people :)

How soon they forget...

"Reefer Madness"

Which I was fortunate (?) enough to see as a double feature! :D Some things are just so bad they're good.

Another one of my favorite Bad movies is "The Monitors"

actually they made 2 sequels to Tremors! i actually enjoyed the first one with Kevin Bacon, it was a sleeper hit in the box office...the other two sequels starring Alex Keaton's dad from Family Ties were horrible...

Cabin Fever, IMO, was just as bad as Dreamcatcher...

Freddy Got Finger was unwatchable for me...shock value isn't entertaining if there's no motive behind it...South Park has a lot of shock value, but it's funny because there's an actual plot behind it all, plus it's a cartoon...Tom Green's style of "humor" relies on simply stupifying to levels of idiocy that normal people wouldn't do...swinging a baby by it's umbilical cord? err, ok...a 2 hour long movie that's just as bad as his cancelled MTV show deserves a spot as one of the 100 worst movies of all time, i personally would've placed it higher...and it's not that i'm unfamiliar with shock entertainment...i find Jackass hilarious as much as i find those Faces of Death videos disturbing but intriguing...

i've never seen You Got Served since it just came out recently...for it to be #1 amongst thousands of voters, it really MUST be that bad...

And I hope Shaq stops playing basketball soon so he can get back to acting and play the role he was born to play: Mushmouth in the live-action "Fat Albert" movie. So gonna rule!

The Hulk is probably one of the worst, I don't think it's up there...that movie was downright disgusting IMO.
Also--almost all movies that were made from "milking" are bad and almost receive no advertising--home alone 5? Pokemon 1 million? Lion King I 1/2? A bunch of other disney movies that ejaculated from milking...
Man, this post made me think of how much the industries ruin things when they decide to "milk" something good--or even average....
bad idea.

Thin Red Line and Lost in Translation??? Two of the better movie of the last 10 years in mine and many other peoples opinions. In fact I think I would give Lost in Translation the nod over LOTR for best picture this year, which for me is saying a lot since I'm a huge LOTR fan.

I don't get someone mentioning The Good Girl either, it has a few great acting performances from Aniston, Gyllenhaal, and Reilly and was an interesting story. Not quite academy award worthy, but it was a good indie film.

American Psycho is another... may not be your favorite movie, but hardly one of the worst films ever made. It's a very thought prvoking film that was shot very well, and is one of the best examples of 80's excess.

i liked Lost in Translation as well...a bit of a quirky dramedy that doesn't sell out with unnecessary sex scenes or any moments that are oversappy...the ending fitted the movie quite well

The Hulk was mediocre...they got what was intended from a director that is first and foremost known for character development and sweeping cinematography...Ang Lee's only other "action movie", Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon wasn't your average Samurai Sunday chop sockey martial arts movie...the fights were artisticly choreographed...his other movies are complete genre opposites (Eat Drink Man Woman, The Wedding Banquet, Sense and Sensibility)...seriously what did they expect from this type of director?

Solaris looks pretty stupid... if i had (way) worse special effects it'd probably be pretty funny, and a good laugh to watch.

i'd say "rent it" if it compels you... any movie is worth a rent.

i've seen pretty much all the marionette stuff from the 50's and 60's: Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlett, and my favourite Stingray .
Godzillas also rock the mic.

if you think it'll be fun, it's always worth the rent.

I only watched 10 minutes of Solaris before I fell alseep. However It was me, not the movie. I was already tired. It looks like an good movie if you like movies like Contact. (maybe).

I also fell asleep while watching Manhunter and Dune repeatedly.. it was 10 years before I made it through Manhunter and about 8 before I could watch Dune in it's entirety without falling asleep.. so take my sleeping with a grain of salt :)

I thought it was interesting Insane Clown Posse was on the soundtrack of this movie.. that was funny to me. Not funny in a ha ha way, funny in a wierd way.

Wow, no one mentioned Highlander 2 and on. The original Highlander is a good cult classic. The sequels were down right embarrassing.

Dead Ringers - horrible was of time.

Red Sonja

Doom Generation

Mallrats - Kevin Smith's worst work besides the Clerks cartoon.
All other of Smith's movies were pretty good.

Solaris is worth a watch if you have some good heroin laying around with nothing to do. That way you really won't care what mind numbing images and lack of thought you are being subjected to. I didn't expect action I just expected something thought provoking like 2001 A Space Oddessy. I was seriously disappointed.

Im glad to see 'Manos' the Hands of Fate was on the list (#2) I saw it on a MST3K episode. I only saw it once & it made me ill. I would rather cook my left nut & feed it to my right nut than watch that claptrap again!

I didn't even know this thread was still around. Worst movie ever: 13 Ghosts. Can't stand that guy from Monk. Rapper Rah Diggah's only movie? Thank goodness. This movie is a total libido killer .

Um, we're forgetting 'Leprechaun 4: In Space'.

actually, that kinda sounds cool!! :) i've really only seen the first three, i didn't even know of the fourth.

let's see... i really really hate Moulin Rouge (give me a reason why i should like it, and i guarantee that i'll be able to tell you why that's actually a reason to burn all the celluloid that movie has ever been copied onto).

Where is Ghost Dog: The way of the Samurai . Horrible movie starring Forrest Whitaker as a Sword weilding, ice cream eating urban ninja.

One of the most absurd movies made has to be Robot Monster-if you are old enough to remember this pos. If you do not remember it it is available on VHS or DVD. If you have Netflix you can probably rent it for some laughs and groans!
