thanks
can we buy that strut bar?
XDEEDUBBX 02-09-2004, 02:57 AM tell you the truth i don't know..this was the first time i had seen this one..i've seen other ones before but this was new to me...maybe soon...?
Landon_Starr 02-09-2004, 03:03 AM Wow. Awesome thread DEEDUBB!!!
Thanks for the pics!
--Landon
XDEEDUBBX 02-09-2004, 03:06 AM no prob landon... sorry about your other thread about your 20 inch rims..didn't mean that in a bad way... just some crticism...thats what forums are about...
Xyntax 02-09-2004, 03:13 AM very nice. thanks!
one note though: on the right-hand drive rx-8, the e-brake gets in the way if the shifter. that has got to be annoying don't u think? I'm surprised why they didn't just move it to the other side.
corsanut 02-09-2004, 03:17 AM Awesome pictures.
Wasn't it the Irvine team that won the design for the RX-8? Pretty cool that you get to go there.
Off-topic: I was given the same opportunity here for Honda's S2000 design team.
blksf8 02-09-2004, 04:01 AM I saw the rear strut tower bar at trussville mazda's site. It sells for $132.25 and looks identical to the one deedubb saw...except the one at trussville is for the rear. They also sell the front MS strut tower brace for $234, but it doesn't show a picture so I don't know if this is the same one in this thread or the full MS brace that you can see on jt imports.

That was exactly what Tiff Needle picks-up when he reviewed the rx-8 in Fifth Gear.
Great pics DeeDubb...thanks for sharing!!

Yeah, I was worried abt it before I got the car but it didn't pose a problem as it doesn't get in the way of shifts.
chinx 02-09-2004, 09:48 AM that is awesome! thanks for the pix! i wish i get to visit mazda at irvine. that engine strut brace is different from the ms ones we've seen. this one looks a lot better
R&T this month ran a story on the ms rx-8. sam mitani drove one in japan, fully equipped a-spec. apparently there is a slight mod on the engine (not more power, just better delivery), though they're being very vague about it. handling sounded awesome! you guys should read it, i thoroughly enjoyed it.
If my memory is correct.....the color of that car is Silver Storm, not Sunlight silver. In the close pic of the rear quarter you can tell. I LOVE that color. Its only on the MS RX8.... sweet...
Jeff_pap31s 02-09-2004, 10:37 AM These are some of the best pix I've seen yet.
Rolland 02-09-2004, 10:41 AM Thanks for the pics!
chinx 02-09-2004, 10:58 AM "silver storm"? that's not a production rx-8 color
sup3rbad 02-10-2004, 02:03 AM After my excursion in the canyons, the side pad would be a great asset.
XDEEDUBBX 02-10-2004, 03:53 AM no prob bout the pix everybody...just tryin to share.... as far as the paint goes...i know for sure that it is definetly not the stock USDM paint color..i think it is silver storm...it looked badass...
Dookie_Rx-8 02-12-2004, 01:48 AM so its for sale??
takahashi 02-12-2004, 04:35 PM nice... the pad on the side of the door should be on the other side.
Omicron 02-13-2004, 12:23 AM Nice contribution, XDEEDUBBX!
XDEEDUBBX 02-13-2004, 12:27 AM =)
Dugless 02-13-2004, 04:17 AM Where the F did they get that Gauge Pod????
I want that .......
Japan8 02-13-2004, 05:26 AM RE is selling, JapanParts.com is too... I am betting the Trussville and Rosenthal are carrying the part as well. $1,500-ish.
nf9648 02-13-2004, 11:19 AM Very dope, too bad it costs so much to build your own.
MrXpSyChO 02-18-2004, 01:39 AM i got 2 questions...#1 where in irvine is this place? i would like to go visit...#2 for the mazdaspeed kit, i noticed on some website that the sideskirts go lower than the front kit...i was wondering how it would look if you got just the mazdaspeed front bumper kit (which i love) on the stock US rx8 and how much lower the front would be than the sideskirts of the stock rx8...
XDEEDUBBX 02-18-2004, 04:42 AM from what i saw the real kit sits even all the way around...in my opinion i suggest you get the whole kit or mix it with something else..it would look something like acosta's car...he just has the MS front bumper...also Mazda Headquarters is in Irvine California... and you won't be able to go inside unless you know someone that works inside the building...=(
mmmdowning 02-18-2004, 06:51 AM Wow what a car, very nice pictures. The only thing I'm not sold on is the rear wing. But the rest is awesome thank you for the pictures. Wish I lived there to see it in person.
bcRX-8*TRI 02-18-2004, 12:26 PM very nice pix! i wanna see that rx-8 down akina mountain.. a new ride for K.T. (initial d)
MrXpSyChO 02-18-2004, 05:20 PM i live in cali, go to school in georgia...i'm from fullerton...but i guess it doesn't matter because i can't get in...dang...
Outlaws eXtreme 02-18-2004, 05:39 PM For the wing, you really have to see it in person... it's much much better than I'd ever thought. Looks like it's floating above the trunk.
rx8ishprsn 02-18-2004, 08:24 PM that is bad ass. hey did you customize the driver side or did you get the car like that? you know the righ hand side.
RX8FanMan 02-18-2004, 08:56 PM nice pics, is that in a show room?
HKSpower 02-18-2004, 09:25 PM great pics ... do the Defi gauges come standard on Mazdaspeed RX8s ?

you can purchase these gauges aftermarket... as far as standard goes.. not to sure..i think i'd still rather have a navi unit there..
avakiannl 09-07-2005, 06:18 PM Anyone know which So Cal canyon road is refered to as Mt. Akina? If so please pm me, don't post public, I guess its a big secret.

well the reason for that is because this thread is so old that alot of the older threads (this included) lost their pics =( But if you must know they were pics of a silver full JDM mazdaspeed rx8 Right hand drive with everything mazdaspeed created for the 8. And for your info i did piss my pants when i sat in it...haha

If a mountain name doesn't sound spanish nor english, it's not in California ;)

Deedub, when you edit your thread with photos in them... you will see they are still attached but does not show.
So what you need to do is to "copy shortcut" the link to your already attached picture and post them in the body of the thread with "img" code around them.
zoom44 09-07-2005, 09:09 PM pics fixed;)
dazygirl415 09-07-2005, 09:38 PM <drool> be still my beating heart... i think i'm in love.

i have the knee pads in my car and in stock i love them (http://www.mazdaparts.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=D10000-1114110238)
LiL BenNy 09-08-2005, 04:30 AM LOL yeah but its still like 250 for a pillow the size of my hand lol only if i was a baller... damnit...
crystaloptik 09-08-2005, 08:19 AM wow is that cushion mount to prevent shoe scuffs as well because thats helpfull...?
XDEEDUBBX 09-08-2005, 11:23 AM the cushion prevents your knee from banging it on to the side during high G turns. It also sorta keeps your legs in place. I tend to lean my leg/ knee on the door panel.
KYLiquid 09-08-2005, 11:51 AM very nice. thanks!
one note though: on the right-hand drive rx-8, the e-brake gets in the way if the shifter. that has got to be annoying don't u think? I'm surprised why they didn't just move it to the other side.
Moving it would require all diffent brackets to route the cable down the trany tunnel and new holes for the bracket, as well as a new center console, ect to much cost. Usualy they just design things in a car (that will be sold as both RHD and LHD) to fit the market that will buy the most units. In my miata, LHD, the EBrake was on the left, so it was bettween my hand and the shifter, it doesnt stick up as high as the RX8 so it never affected shifting, but I liked it being there cause it was a simple, quick movent of the hand from the wheel to the shifter (downshift) and then pull the EBrake to slide around corners and such. I would use it when having fun sliding around to to turn a little understeer into quick oversteer. With the EBrake (LHD) on the right side of the car, its an extra effort to take my hand off the wheel, to the shifter (downshift) and then over farther to the EBrake and then all the way back to the wheel. It doesnt sound like much but its somewhat a hassle when your driving around a track (IMO) id love to be RHD or have it on the other side so I could use it more easily. I do like the way it sticks up, as its less of a reach down to pull it. The RHD market really is lucky to have it that way.
Taka said the knee pad is on the wrong side, in the JDM MSRX8's that I have seen there is a need pad on both the door and the center console on the drivers side, and non on the pass. Since they are both made for each side (the logo) but are the same size, you could adapt them both for the driver (or pass) side of a RHD car. I think they are neet and at least want to get the centerconsole side one, when i get the MS seats!
Mugatu 09-08-2005, 12:39 PM maybe i'm biased because I own a VR RX8, but I think the red one looks better than the 'Mazdaspeed' version:

XDEEDUBBX 09-08-2005, 01:34 PM wowsers! we acutally agree on 1 thing with mugatu!?!? The world is coming to an end!
Matt RX8 09-08-2005, 02:43 PM Great pics. I'll take some of those seats :)
avakiannl 09-10-2005, 05:14 PM hahaha thats a mountain in japan, or maybe okinawa, has nothing to do with so cal
Yes, it is a mountain in Japan (real name Mt. Haurna) and was made famous by Initial D but apparently there is a canyon in So Cal that has been nicknamed Mt. Akina because of the number of hairpins (and to keep it secret - prevent being overrun by cops when scheduling meets).
If you go to maps.google.com and search: mt haurna japan
then zoom in all the way it will take you right to the 5 hairpin section of road in mentioned in Initial D/anime. (***EDIT***tried this again and it didn't work, will find right combo I tried last week)
The So Cal "Akina" is mentioned in some of thw WRX forums and FD lists but I'm not a member so I thought I'd start here. If anyone knows where it is please PM. Thanks.
rowteree 09-10-2005, 06:21 PM love those knee pad sets, kinda pricey though
How did I miss this? Great pics!
Funny about those knee pads.. washing the 8 today and the piano black piece that touches my knee needed a good cleaning. Figures, I bump it almsot every day. Didn't know they made those.
Zephyr 09-10-2005, 08:52 PM weird that they didn't use the 4 point struct brace...
instead they used the usdm version
XDEEDUBBX 09-16-2005, 01:26 AM i think originally it had the 4 point brace.(i believe that came out first)...
