Hi,

Come and see the RX-8 and the Mazdas that spawned it at the Council of ACT Motor Clubs Autumn "Wheels" car show.

It looks like we'll have almost [0] every Mazda rotary or derivative represented, from R100 to RX-8. Some cars are modified, some are stock. We've even got 1 or 2 rally cars lined up (if they don't crash the day before).

Here's the list of confirmed attending cars (names are people's Nics on AusRotary):
Confirmed list
1. Saru: white s2 RX-7, stock
2. Angry: white s2 RX-7, modified
3. S2 13BT: white s2 RX-7, modified
4. Pepe: black s1 RX-8, stock (mandatory RX-8 club.com content ;) )
5. 13b: white s3 RX-7, modified
6. rx626: white RX4, stock(?)
7. Gaz13bt: white s3 RX-7, modified
8. 13bseven: blue s2 RX-7, modified
9. RX706: montego blue s6 RX-7, lightly modified
10. HIPSI: pink s2 RX-7, modified
11. Billybob: sparklyblue RX-7
12. buzz: white s1 RX-7, modified
13. Fingerlickin_B: yellow RX-929 wagon, modified
14. 80812aT: R100
15. Spac/Paulie: RX-something (hopefully not dented )
16. rx_mags: white s2 RX-7, modified?
17. Jake: White RX-2, modified
18. Killa_B13: Green RX-3, modified

There will also be may cars powered by piston engines at the show including a very large display of Mercedes Benz's and lots of British, French, German and American cars. Last year there were easily 150 cars in attendance.

Come along and see the rich history of the RX-8 in the metal. Witness also the near compulsion that rotary owners have to modify their cars :D

cheers,

Ben

[0] You will, of course, appreciate the difficulty in locating an original 10a Cosmo seeing as there are only 4 or 5 in the country, or an R130, seeing as there is only 1 that I know of :)

Umm... touristy stuff *shrug* I just live here.

War Memorial
National Gallery
Nat Museum
Old and New Parliament house

Apparently on the weekend of the car show there is also a food and wine festival. I've been told that the cars and the foodies are on opposite ends of the large grassed area in front of Old Parliament House. I'll probably know more in 2 weeks after the next meeting of the Council of Car Clubs.

Bring your warm-ish gear - Canberra in March can be as cool/cold as Brisbane in May.

This goes double for those coming to the Wakefield day - Wakefield has the potential to be *bloody freezing*.

Well, we didn't have quite the entire Australian delivered catalogue, but we were close. :) We were missing an R100 and RX-2 but otherwise we had everything!

People are fascinated with the RX-8. Pepe had his drivers side doors open for much of the day and people couldn't resist walking up and looking, taking photos and even getting in (some without being invited or asking first!).

Saru,
In your resources.dmt link the last car, blue metallic coupe, really has me stumped. Answer please.
Also model of the yellow for sale: 1750 GTV? Condition of car?
Thanks,jack.

Jack,

It's a Fiat Coupe. Front wheel drive 20V 5 cyl turbo. 162kw, 310nm. Probably imported from the UK (it was RHD). It was for sale for $39k. A mate and I were looking at the engine for ages, debating weather it was a longer engine than the (infamously) long Nissan FJ20 before we figured out it was a 5cyl when we immediately declared it to be "really quite short then". :)

I just liked the wording of the add. It's a 105 series Berlina.

Been and gone, dude. Sorry. :)

No, no 10a Cosmo.

If I'm not mistaken, the 110s designation was only for some of the original Cosmos and is not a blanket term (I wait to be corrected by DMRH :) )
