View Full Version : gt-r concept
state island 01-18-2003, 11:44 AM when i saw it i though of the 4th generation rx-7, now do u guys think that nissan will make a production model in the near future?
if they are wat price will u guys give it? maybe if its around $30,000 u think it would be better than the 4th generation rx-7?http://www.club350.com/gallery/GTRConcept/index.html
R.Cade 01-18-2003, 12:44 PM Thats pretty ugly, and I'm trying to be nice :) The interior design looks like some bad 80's stuff.
The GT-R is supposed to be $50k+, with a turbo version of the 350z motor, projected hp is 350-400 (depending on emmisions).
The latest on the 4th gen 7 is that it will probably have a bigger displacement RENESIS w/ 300+ hp, weight about 2700lbs, and cost mid $30k range.
cueball 01-18-2003, 01:01 PM That is a whole lot of ifs. If it is the same price, same size and has the same performance characteristics than maybe it will be compition. For all we know it could be priced thousands more and have poor handling characteristics. It could be like comparing the RX-8 vs. 350z.
cueball 01-18-2003, 01:02 PM Looks like m477 beat me to it.:)
velociti 01-19-2003, 09:20 AM I don't think the lines are all that bad, but the front and rear end look really rakish. Polish it up, smooth out the lines and I think they will have a nice looking car. I thought the R-34 GTR was one of the nicer looking cars out there, anybody agree?
wakeech 01-19-2003, 12:17 PM yeah, the R33 and 34's are beautiful... really really sexy beasts.... but that, that THING *points in horror* is one fugly car... i just can't stand the front end, the imbalance top to bottom is just scary... the rest of the car is fine, i just HATE the front...
the 7 and GT-R probably won't be competitors if thier performance and pricing diverge so greatly... only in competition comparos would the 7 really wax the GT-R off, as it's predasessor did before it ;)
danger 01-20-2003, 02:08 AM yea i agree.. the way they went with this gt-r just isn't cutting it... the r34 IMO was the sexiest GT-r ever! this r35, well its not working for me..
looks like they borrowed a bit from the g35, and the 350z... and people complain that the 8 takes from audi and s2000...
Strider 01-22-2003, 08:01 PM and people complain that the 8 takes from audi and s2000...
I've heard people say that say that the 8 looks like an S2000, but an Audi... I'd have to see where they get those ideas from.
The R-35... I like the back end, I like the possible performance (unless they put in an 8-cylinder as previously proposed). Other than that... hideous IMO.
On that Nissan note: Am I correct when I heard that the Skyline and the GT-R are going to be separate models from now on? I'm getting a bit rusty on my general car knowledge while the Rotary knowledge it skyrocketing.
Strider-
Strider 01-22-2003, 08:05 PM Also... hasn't that same concept been out for a long while? If so it's about time they at least played with it, and got a few more ideas out before they decide to make it their (either Nissan or Infinity's) new flagship sportscar.
Hercules 01-22-2003, 08:14 PM Yea and let's start counting how many automakers took design tips from the FD RX-7? Give me a break.

I think........one, two......a million should do :D
max_stirling 01-23-2003, 09:13 AM This concept has been out for a while and I still hate it. It looks like Nissan took the current GTR and wrapped it with a skin tight space suit from a cheap Sci-Fi B-movie from the 50's.
As a previous poster mentioned: FUGLY
I'm as much a speed and HP junky as the next guy on this forum, even with AWD and 400HP and incredible handling, I wouldn't put my hard earned money on one in it's current form.
