I forgot about Mt St Helens. I think I might detour from PCH over to it before heading up to Seattle when I pass through on 9/22. Maybe early afternoon.

If you are in the area it is definitely worth taking time to visit. So I take it you are still on for SS? I still plan on going and may drive back with you. Only issue for me is when you drive up.

Yeah. If the timing looks like it will be too tight, max and I may switch to leaving LA on sunday instead of monday. I just expect that being a sunday, there will be alot of locals and travelers on PCH that day, which would cut out alot of the fun of it.

Looking at the map though, I'm thinking I will leave PCH at Rt 30 OR/WA border. I want to drive over the Astoria bridge on PCH, but I can just turn around and drive back.

If we get a place to stay at someone's house one night over the other, I think that it would push the LA leave date to match :)

How many miles did you get out of the first reman? I got about 2,000 out of my first one, well that and a destroyed clutch. :anger:

1400 I think but clutch is still good.

Hey Hey Hey!

I'm still looking forward to this drive! There also another RX8 guy I know who will try to make it out. And I may be able to borrow some walkie-talkies from a friend, but no promises.

It should also be said that this is a weekend drive, and there will be 'Sunday' drivers out there. Lots of people go to Windy Ridge on the weekends and can be found going very slow in the funnest twisty sections, and pulled off on the roadside admiring scenery and such when you might not be expecting it. Stay in your lane, DO NOT over run the yellow center line! Depending on our timing, we may also see a large number of sportbikes on a memorial ride which covers part of our route. And also some sportbike friends of mine doing a poker run which will be making a stop at Windy Ridge. Also expect to see a Sheriff or two and some FS Rangers.


So the meet-up is at 9am, what time is the roll-out? Are we eating breakfast at the Oak Tree first?

10:15 - Cougar (Short break ~10-15min, gas, restrooms, last store for our next ~120miles)
10:55 - Ranger Station (Short Break ~5-10min)
11:50 - Bear Meadow (Short Break ~5-10min)
12:15 - Windy Ridge (Longer break ~30-45min, walk to top, Etc…)
2:30 - Cougar (Late Lunch - Cougar Bar & Grill)
4:15 - Back in Woodland

Same rout out, slight deviation on the way back. gg swung north right away the rest of us cut south to Vancouver from cougar.

For me, I work retail, so Friday's and Saturday's I have to work. But on Sunday am good to go!!!

I did ask to see if it could be move to Sunday, but no luck. So today am washing formula 1 at home. tomorrow I think I will change the oil on my angelica and next week change it on Big red.

Anyway I did do the drive last year, with the family, So I hope you guys had fun!!!

Too bad more people didn't or couldn't make it out for the drive. It was a really great day and a very enjoyable drive!!! Traffic was minimal and we had a lot of fun in tight corner after tight corner after tight corner after tight corner!
