:p Can anyone tell me if they have put in satellite radio like sirius or xm...i have the navigation system and i was told it will cost me more to add the satellite radio to my RX8. Friends paid alot less than they quoted me. Anyone familiar with this. thanks for the
help.

Do a search. There are several people who have put it in and done a good job with the installation. There are pics and all.

I have an XM Commander installed and it cost about $160. It transmits through the existing radio--does not require any disruption of existing radio. The antenna is small and was installed on the trunk lid, though it could be put elsewhere. The XM, when running, will disturb FM radio reception, so I don't know whether it might also interfere with GPS signals, but when turned off it does not do so. I don't know why it would have anything to do with the navigation system.

I do not like the "extra" thing on the dash. Most new cars offer it as a factory install to their radio. I'm surprised Mazda does not. Infiniti has a nice package with their G35's.

I don't like "tack ons" either. Here is what the install looks like.
The door closes over the XM unit when not in use.

Where's the antenna? can you see the cord? Do they drill to install it?

zippylin, search in the Audio & Electronics forum for lots of threads & postings about various XM Radio installations.

No drilling. The cigarette lighter and ashtray were removed, a bit of hidden plastic cut back. The antenna is very small and is on the trunk lid. Wiring runs under carpets. The receiver is up under the dash--also quite small.

The thing on the seat is my right leg. I was sitting in the car when I took the photo.

I am the clearly the ugliest thing in this car.

Problems solved for Sirius fans, they will start to offer Sirius as a dealer installed option this summer. I for one can not wait and will be first in line for the install.
