R1 Concepts Inc. is proud to offer Premium Rx8 rotors!
I am offering the Premium series rotors which are made with stronger iron cast metal (G3500) for overall tension strength. The Premium series rotors which is the top of the line series out of the two that I carry (E-lines & Premiums). The rotors are cast with a 50/50 center split for better heat distribution. Premium utilize a black Electro-coating finish applied on the hubs and inner vane structures providing long lasting corrosion protection. Original stock size, will bolt right up with no modifications needed.

Here at R1, we take many precautions in drilling rotors. We drill with smaller diameter holes and counter sink each hole. You can also go with just slotted only or whatever design you wish. When ordered with slots, every R1 rotor will come with our exclusive Diamond Slot design (45 degree angle end points), to help release trapped debris. Also a good indicator for rotor wear life.

I'm very interested.....but is the rotor surface coated at all or just the black part? If I use the Hawk HPS's, is there any reason I shouldn't expect this to happen?:

Just ordered a set of these, I'll let everyone know how it works out.

For reference they seem to have a rather silly model/line system. Based on my reading all over the interwebz, and talking to their sales guy who was very nice, they sell two types of 1-piece rotors:

(a) the "eLine" (I think it's short for economy line) which is entirely zinc-coated which does an OK job of protecting from rust, and coats the ENTIRE piece. Apparently this can wear off over time, but does an OK job of rust protection.

(b) the "premium" line, which is all of the rotors in this group buy. They are made of better/stronger steel, has some other design improvements, and sounds like the way to go if you track your car at all. They have a black "E-Coat" on the hubs which is apparently very good at protecting from rust, but strangely they do not have ANY anti-rust coating on the rotor surface. I was afraid that this would lead to a ring of rust where the pad does not contact, as in this: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=196174 The sales guy I spoke to said what people do is apply a layer of high-temp engine paint to the rotor surface, which then gets worn away by the pad, leaving the remainder of the rotor coated.
I hope I'm not blowin up anyone spot by advertising this, but he said they would apply high-temp paint to the rotor surface for me for no charge, which was very nice of them and I think it should work out well, but again, I'll let you guys know. There's a chance it'll look weird, but we'll see.
