He warns highly against buying gas from Arco or Ultramar/Valero. mikeb 02-04-2004, 04:59 PM this is one thing I never cared about I have only used 91 in my rx8 but I go to whatever gas station is closest z00m-z00m 02-13-2004, 12:52 AM Shell, the shell gas card. Works at mobile too ;) itsallaboutgary 02-13-2004, 01:12 AM hMmmm it really works at mobile? interesting... XDEEDUBBX 02-13-2004, 02:21 AM if anybody is near the Long Beach area i know of a 76 station that sells 100, 111, 114 octane...i use the 114 octane on my 43cc scooter... maxrx8 02-16-2004, 04:01 PM I normally go to SAMs or Costco. I recently figured my gas milage (over a three month span) and got an avg of 15 mpg. The one thing that stuck out was the one time I went to Shell. The gas was almost 18 cents more p/g, but I almost got 1 mpg better. I always get 91 octane. Any math wiz's out there to figure which is better? Bill Overport 02-17-2004, 02:11 PM anywhere except arco.....premium unleaded lefuton 02-18-2004, 06:44 PM 76 else chevron else mobil else i'll get out and push =p rX8rEdLiNe 02-20-2004, 03:29 AM Gas prices just went up an average of 15 cents per gallon. I was filling up at Costco Gas in San Jose, and they were changing the signs to another 10 cents while I was there?! It now takes close to 30 bucks to fill up the tank. Anyone know why there is a gas price increase? lefuton 03-01-2004, 06:30 PM Originally posted by rX8rEdLiNe Gas prices just went up an average of 15 cents per gallon. Anyone know why there is a gas price increase? it's part of my master plan to try and reduce traffic hehe RotorMotor 03-04-2004, 02:42 PM Mobile = Exxon Exxon = Never paid for oil spill cleanup in Alaska Mobile and Exxon = Bad people I like Chevron (yeah, I think the techron commercials worked on me too).... :D RevRaz 03-04-2004, 05:21 PM The prices are high because we pay what they charge. sjt 03-04-2004, 11:24 PM 76 whenever possible. Chevron 2nd choice. 76 is the only station with NO MTBE in their gas. All other stations still have that "notice: this gas contains MTBE blah blah blah." stangmatt66 03-05-2004, 12:13 PM Originally posted by sjt 76 whenever possible. All gas is now MTBE free...it's required by law... "Starting in 2004, ethanol is the only approved oxygenate for California Cleaner Burning Gasoline." http://www.chevrontexaco.com/news/press/2003/2003-01-08.asp stangmatt66 03-05-2004, 12:32 PM Originally posted by rX8rEdLiNe Anyone know why there is a gas price increase? There's been a lot about this on the news. Apparently 6 of 13 refineries in the state are shutdown for maintenance and the price of crude oil is again on the rise. RevRaz 03-05-2004, 04:15 PM Actually, they said 2 nights ago that wholesale prices went down. itsallaboutgary 03-18-2004, 07:08 PM anyone out here put 87 in their cars yet? Koala Joe 03-18-2004, 07:50 PM Itsallaboutgary, if you put 87 in your car, you're gonna have knocking problems, guaranteed. Rotary engines are more prone to detonation. I usually fill up either Cheveron, 76, or Shell. But the way gas prices are moving up, the corner gas station that's 3 blocks from my house that just says "GAS" is starting to look attractive. :D Slick_Advanced 03-19-2004, 09:49 AM I've done 87, 89, and 92 octane. I found 87 to have more knocking problems as well as just having a poorer ride. I wouldn't suggest it. However, I have found for me that 89 has done better for me than 92 with performance and gas mileage. However, keep this in mind I tend to be somewhat anal and 85% I fill up at a half a tank. The only time I've let the car run close to empty is when I tried to find the max mileage range. Riccio 03-19-2004, 02:11 PM I,ve used Texaco 87 octane for the past 3 fill-ups: Result: No knocking, smoother idle and +2 mpg (to 20.5) with no change in my driving style. I fill up at about 1/4 tank remaining. |
