It has been a few months since our last meet (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13588) and I figured that now is as good of a time as any to get everyone back together. Hopefully a few of the new owners will show up along with everyone from the last meet.

I was thinking that we could meet on Sunday February 29th at Hampton Beach at 10AM and then head up the coast to Old Orchard Beach. It is a nice twisty road that follows the coast and it should be fairly deserted this time of year. :D

That should give us about an hour long drive up the coast and we can stop at some point to grab lunch. This will also give everyone a chance to hang out with fellow enthusiasts, check out some mods, and get some great photos. It should be fun and you should plan on attending.

I'll be coming down I-89 from Lebanon, NH and going through Manchester on my way to the meet. So if anyone wants to meet up along the way just let me know.

We are even missing some of the people who came last time (i.e. Gyro and Wasy). The last that I heard, Gyro had put his car away for the winter. So I guess we can let him slide this time. ;)

Don't think it's actually a hour back, you can just go jump on I95 and be back to MA in a flash. It's just the coast road is like a snake and twists and turns everywhere along the ocean and so is not fast.

Maybe that helps some!

Hello all, I'm very new to this message board, stumbled upon it a few days ago wail searching Google for radio mods…

I’m in NH and have a Green RX-8, I live just north of West Lebanon, and if things workout, would be interested in meeting up and joining you on the 29th.

Speed Racer, if you are still planning on starting out in the West Lebanon area, and I can make it, I would be grateful to meet up with you and follow you. I haven’t seen any red RX-8’s in the area??? Are you local to the area or just passing through?

Welcome to the board! Yeah, we should be able to meet up in Lebanon and drive down together. I also need to stop in Manchester to meet up with my10ae.

Cool, now that means that there are three RX-8s in the area. I have yet to see the green in person I bet it looks great. It also adds a little variety because the others happen to be red. If you want to meet up before the 29th just send me a PM and we can work out the details.

Absolutely! They made it a lot easier to communicate with everyone; especially for the people either leading or following up the pack.

So for everyone who is coming, if you have a FRS radio please bring it along. If you don't have one, you can pick one up at Wal-mart, Best Buy, etc... They normally come in a pair for $30+ but I have seen single radios starting at $15.

I can but I was hoping that Spin9k would take the lead seeing that this is his neck of the woods. Plus that would free me up to try out the AutoXcam and get some nice video shots of everyone.

Or we can swap places half way through the cruise so I can get some shots from both ends of the pack.

That works for me. I like being somewhat in the middle. Not used to that cause with the M'sters I'm either leading or the tail guy :)

Not a problem, yea I even took a dry run from Portsmouth to York Beach last weekend to check everything out. Winter hasn't been kind to the roads around about but what to hey, this is New England!

Looking foward to the run. Just an FYI to everyone running snow tires, please be careful in the twisties. I know I scared myself a few times "forgetting" I have snow tires on and taking some quick turns. The DSC helped me but I don't want anyone to get hurt or hurt their cars. Just a friendly FYI....

The weather looks like it is going to be OK and I'll be looking forward to meeting with everyone tomorrow.

Don't forget to bring an FRS radio if you own one.

How was the food? I had lots of fun. Nice scenic roads. Sorry I had to go early. Nice pics man....

Another note...I checked my oil level before I took off for the meet...checked out fine. After the 250 miles of "fun" driving, I checked it again when I got home. I had to add 1/2 quart. Must of ran her hard...hahaha

My family and I had a great time. It was a blast driving. Great scenery, fun roads.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who made it to the meet today. We had a nice turn out and a few surprise visitors which are always welcome. :)

Roger, thanks for taking the lead and sharing your familiarity with the area. It wouldn't have been the same without you.

This was the first time I've used the AutoXcam with a group so I'm not sure how the video turned out. I haven't had a chance to review the tapes but with a little luck I should end up with something worth editing. It will probably take me a few days to piece it all together. I'll give everyone a heads up when its done.

If you happened to take any photos today, would you mind sending them to me? Send me a PM & I'll give you my e-mail address. I'm asking because I'll be compiling a CD with a bunch of stuff from today's meet and it would be nice to have everyone's photos in one place. The CD is fantastic, and the video's shot from your back bumper are really awesome. I think you're going to need to get a front bumper mount!

Thanks for all the work putting this together. For those of you have not yet received your CD's I think you're in for a treat. It contains a lot of great additional photos and articles as well as all the video's.

I actually have a mount that I'm going to place in the radiator opening but I just ran out of time before the meet. In the week leading up to the meet I spent the majority of every night trying different angles for the camera and placement of the mic. The mic turned out to be a big challenge. It is so sensitive that it was picking up every sound including the movement of my clothes! :eek:

In the end the experimentation paid off and I was able to get some decent shots of the meet. Anyways, I had a lot of fun creating the video and I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

And if the snow has managed to disappear, it would be fun to do another drive, especially with summer tires!

I may be the only 8 running around with studded snows, but I know I’m not the only one running some form of winter snow tires… and I think I can safely say that the itch to put my summer tires/rims back on is starting to get uncontrollable!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I just had my new summer tires mounted last week. They are just begging to be put on but I don't think that is going to happen this week with snow in the forecast.
