Just thought I'd share this short promotional teaser with you guys. It features a Mazdaspeed RX-8 and was filmed using all professional video hardware and software. It is only meant to give a glimpse into what will grow to be a much larger production, and is, at the moment, more of an experiment to test/set up film equipment. Drop a comment so I can get some feedback, both positive and negative reactions are of course welcome, just keep in mind its a teaser its meant to tease! That said... why do people love calling their modified rx8 a mazdaspeed rx-8? Not to sound like an ass, but do you have any actual mazdaspeed parts on the car? Even with every MS part offered, I don't think it should be called a MS 8. /endrant

I believe I have every part Mazdaspeed offers and more on this car, I thought that would be enough to merit the title. I do understand where you are comming from though. However, that was more of a side thought to me, I honestly was much more focused on the content.

In my opinion there was too much time getting to the focal point, and then too quick a release on nearly every shot. I get the whole drama and fleeting moment thing, but it was too fleeting for me. If I didn't own one, I can't actually say I would have any idea what an RX-8 even looked like based on what I saw...

Just my .02. The .001 seconds of the car I actually saw looked great.

Woah, take it easy. 2010 is referring to production date (the cars an 05') and I really don't see how minor discrepancies with the name is entirely relevant. I posted to get feedback from the 8 community about the promo and how the car is represented, not to get bashed about my choice in title.

I think it looks good, could maybe use a drop based on the pictures, but I still think it looks really good.

mazdaspeed non-mag wheels? ;P almost all mazdaspeed....Overall, it looks good but it is a bit too fleeting, as mentioned above, the shots of the rx8 logo and burnout was perfect.

Please keep in mind, I think the car looks great and I'm not criticizing the looks of it or anything. The wing is clearly not the MS wing and the front bumper is a replica. It's hard to tell if you have any of the parts like intake and suspension parts.

Vid quality is cool, I will agree that maybe should have shown less of the car to make it more mysterious. Otherwise pretty fancy.

I thought the same thing, but wasn't sure and didn't listen to it a second time... about to listen again. It could just be an interesting exhaust set up, but it did catch my attention as well.

Maybe this is what the video was really focused on, and the rx8 was used as an example. The camera angles and smooth picture quality was great.

Has a Top Gear car review feel to it. I like where your going with this, lets see the final product! :icon_tup:

And some tips on the photos, that last shot, maybe photoshop that pillar out of the way? I think that pillar draws way to much attention. I love that first shot though, the reflection is a good idea that I'll be borrowing =D

Clearly the feedback is somewhat less positive than what I had hoped for, it seems the 8 community is more concerned with minor details like title, mods etc...rather than the polished video product. With all the ameteur street racing videos out there involving the 8, I figured I'd try to give back to the community a more professional outlook on what I believe to be a great car, much in the vein of Top Gear and Fifth Gear. Since not many seem interested, I'll simply change plans a bit.

^ I don't see the point just taking your toys and going away, you asked for + and - feedback. Take what is offered for what it is, you've got to know that almost anything you do/say here will get reactions you'll be surprised by?

As to the vid, it's "ok" IMHO. We all have seen so many vids, most people are fairly critical right or wrong... it's simply their opinion. For my opinion, I'd have to say to you... indeed, "everything counts". ...i.e., fancy equipment is nice and helps of course, but details count, titling counts, focus counts, composition, and ..and in the final analysis people 'know' what's good when they see it! I realize you put your heart into it, that's good...now take the feedback and go and revise to make it better - unless you're only trying to impress yourself....something truly amazing only comes after failing, and failing, and failing again to reach you sought after goals. Perseverance, introspection and skills improvement takes time and effort and disappointment to achieve success...and it still may not be reachable in the end. But trying is the fun part isn't it?

In the full disclosure part you've got comments on, perhaps list your mods to make it plain to everyone...then you'll not get beat up on that anyway.

Why not come back with your next attempt and see what peps say? BTW I think if there was no interest, you wouldn't have any comments...and that's not the case. Think about it.

I appretiate that comment and you are very correct, but this is not my first attempt nor is it my last, a quick look at my other films will reveal that to you. As I said before this was more like an experiment to get used to new equipment and I never said I'd take "my toys away" I said I'd alter my plans a bit and take a new angle.

Don't mind all the hate man, your work is done professionally done. I rather have your 8 with MS or replictated MS parts then some the crap that owners put on there 8 here in this forum.

I liked the video and admit it's 1000 times better than anything I could make. The pictures came out great too. I was just pointing out the one thing I could give feedback/criticism on.

Still wondering what the sound was... it didn't sound like a rotary, but if that was the actual sound, what exhaust do you have?

Sounds pretty similar to my Agency Power exhaust down low. Definitely not a dub over lol.

Def what I was thinking also. In your Motion Cinema video, when it was all still and calm, I was expecting you to zoom past, like how Top Gear does it.

The sound is unedited, it is not dubbed over, what you may be hearing is the echoing (its in a parking garage), the car is extremely loud. I'm running a catless setup right now.
