KY Need advice...

How do you stay in love with your 8? I haven't really had any probs with it. I expected bad gas mileage. Expected the upkeep. But I have fallen out of love with my 8. I've recently moved closer to my job (a few blocks away) so my gas mileage has gotten worse. I don't live in an area where I can redline safely anymore. And the recent heat wave has caused my visors to break and my air conditioner **** has come loose because of the heat. Well the air conditioner never has been cold anyway so I hardly ever use it. I'm wondering if at this point I should clean it up and trade it in toward something else. O yeah and the clear coat is starting to peel off the rear bumper.

Staying in love is easy. Find a windy back road and romp on it. It will come back to you. If your air works, but isn't cold, try recharging it. It's simple and only $25 to $30 for a kit to do it.

If the rx8 is no longer what you love to drive, either try to do as fuztupnz mentioned or look for that perfect car for you. Not everyone of my friends love the 8 for different reasons. Basically you probably just need to find the car that fits you best.

as for your visors start lookign at junk yards got some cheap. All the ac **** needs is just a little bit of super glue.

Sounds like you are past the honeymoon stage, and you know what thats ok. I think you need to get yourself out to autocross. That once a month trip of hooning is bliss for me. It helps me get over that low gas mileage and what not. Also As soon as i have mine paid off, ill buy a beater for the DD and start doing some major work on my 8.

The one thing that i envy about other cars are their sound. V8's of all sorts, and V6's out of the nissans make me want that sound. But i still love my 8 as a DD and a fun car because it does everything those cars do, and generaly better other than straight line speed.

It's its uniqueness. Putting on a new exhaust totally renewed it for me, though.

You're car is six years old now, and things like the visors and the clear coat will happen. Think of it like having a wife . . . they will get a little worse for the wear as they age, but you have to remind yourself why you fell in love to begin with. Why don't you re-read "The Little Things" thread, and like fuz said, get out and find some twisties.

Or go to Hertz and rent nearly any GM product for a day. That should cure you.

Thanks for the advice.
I do love the sound of the engine so that is a plus. I guess I'm just kinda scared the engine will die. I haven't had any problems but it is an '04 with 85000. It has been stumbling alot on idle though.

If it's stumbling alot on idle, maybe it's time you change your engine mounts. It could possibly be other things, but in my case, getting new engine mounts solved the problem 100% and the car's back to smooth as ever can be.
Go to your dealer and have them check it out!

Thanks for the advice! Do you know what the average cost is to have them checked and replaced if they need to be?

I ordered my parts from my dealer, but it's been a while and I don't remember the price I paid for the parts.. but I searched on google and found the parts listed for $98.95 for each so that would be around 200 for both including shipping.
Here's the link: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...1&apwidTM2yNXa

If I remember correctly, there is a DIY thread explaining how to replace these. You might want to check it out if you do not want to spend extra money on installing them. As for me, I got them at a shop that I go to while I was getting a wheel alignment for no extra charge.

Again.. replacing the mounts might help you out and it might not. You should go to your local dealer when you are getting your next oil change or what not and ask them to check them out for you while you are there.

Good luck!
