What are your thoughts? Good Deal?

I have also been reading on here about the recalls.. but what are your thoughts other then them? Like.. after all the recalls are fixed, does the car run good? Have any of you still had flooding issues or problems with the car? I have heard a lot of things pertaining to it's maintenance and how it is expensive to maintain, but just curious.. it would seem like if all the recalls are fixed, the car should be a runner! And I've had no issues with Mazdas (currently own an MX-3), but yeah.. just wondering. I've always loved the body styling of the RX-8, and the interior is great (though I think if I bought this one I'd probably go searching for the red leather interior to swap in)

but yeah what do you guys think?

The problem with Mazda is that most of theirs aren't recalls. They are service bulletins, which means that there were potential problems, but only repaired free under warranty. Very few recalls, but you can get the VIN and goto Mazda and get the maintenance history to see if any of the TSBs were performed. Recalls will still be free of course.

My 04 has had very few problems, but I did get a new intake manifold due to a TSB and a free PCM reset due to TSB. Both fixed minor issues. Check the dipstick to see if there's moisture (that was one of my TSBs)

But overall, look at the condition of the car. For that year/miles, 8-10k is about the NADA for it, so not a great deal, but if it's in great condition inside/out, it could be a small catch.

How did the owner describe the car? ask what kind of oil was used and how often he/she changed it. Also how often he/she redlined the engine. Keep in mind since they are cloth seats and you later want to swap for the red/black leather seats i believe you wouldnt be able to have them be heated leather due to not having the switch (correct me if i'm wrong.) If there's no serious problems with the car i'd say it's not a bad deal. Maybe a fellow member on here near you would be willing to go see the car with you. Good luck on your search.!
