how does the virtual RX-8 compare to the real RX-8? is it represented well in the game?

Wel... in the game... I was taking her up to speeds of like 120... so I wouldn't know ;)
Also, though I drive a n AT in real life, in the game I only drive stick and they seem to have the high RPM of the rotary well represented.
Tried out the Ford GT - 500 hp - jeez! :D
ic...how about the handling and engine sound? i know Gran Turismo cars have pretty accurate representations of real life cars...i'm guessing since this is a Sega game it's based more on arcade racing rather than real life counterparts?
ps - those pictures really REALLY make me want to go buy an XBox...too bad i already have a PS2 and a Gamecube...otherwise...

Answers:
1 - no PC. Only for the Xbox - it's an updated version of SegaGT 2002 - new features are: new cars (example: RX-8, new Stang, etc), new game modes and online play.
2 - Handling seemed right, just a bit touchy (might be a problem with the game b/c many of the cars seemed like that). Though I love the sound of it revving and the length, it did sound a tad bit loud for a rotary.
Truthfully, though I haven't gotten far in it or tried the online content, it only seems to be an above average game.
When it's released, just get GT4 for the PS2. I plan to whenever the PS2 drops in price to say like $99 (prob when the PS3 is due out - lol).
Though... it's still kewl that our car is on the cover... the game only lists for $19.99 - consider getting it just for that ;)

btw - The Celica seemed to handle just as I remembered it to... but then again, I never did 100 around curves ;)

If you like games with the rx-8 try Tokyo Extreme Racer 3. You can get an all carbon fiber mazdaspeed kit. If you have enough mileage you can get any engine swap you want.

the RX8 does a 14.3 quarter mile in Sega GT online. Its really easy to drive when sideways.
