Haven't posted in a very long time, but thought I should check in.

1 - Got new wheels and snow tires - thx Gord for the help!

2 - Finally received my free touch-up paint, but it looks like it's from the dealer for answering the cust service survey -arrived in a padded envelope and not in the plastic wheel

3 - Today, I just received yet another pre-rder gift: 1:43 AUTOart diecast RX-8 - in my color!!!!
(sorry if this is a duplicate post - I searched and didn't see any about this new gift)

when did you take delivery of your car? i am wondering if these are going out in any order, or maybe in 1 or 2 bulk shipments.

really nice, it's even the correct color! i have been wanting one of those ever since the JDM owners reported getting them.

Took delivery in late September.

The letter included in the package mentions my car color as well. I'll try to take pics and post it a little later.

B/c of deadlines and such, the holiday season is quite busy at my job. Now that everything is quiet again, its time to start posting again!

ok so that's coming from the same place in PA that some of the other things did. makes sense that Philly got them first. should be sometime next week then (wed. or thurs.) for those of us on the west coast.

I just checked the postmark on the package... wasn't shipped from PA.

Was shipped Priority Mail on 1/30 from zip code 08031 (where ever that is).

Received this morning 1/31 in Philly.

ya just gotta love the TLC the USPS gives packages! reminds me of when my cell phone arrived w/ a hole in the box large enough for some of the contents to fall out through (thankfully none did, at least that I know of)

I'm feeling bummed that I didn't pre-order. The car I got was a pre-order someone else had made that fell through on the purchase.... So while I picked it up in July I didn't offically preorder it so I dont get any of these goodies... :(

It looks exactly like the ones pictured in those eBay auctions. Not sure yet if I'm gonna take it out of the black box.. but the car is mounted in a clear, hard plastic case.

Possibly the only difference between the eBay ones and this is the artwork on the back of the box (note that the flash made it come out alot brighter than it actually appears).

Well, with all of the whining and such about not getting my touch-up paint for three months . . . I too received a diecast model of my car today . . . and I said that Mazda would send me no more love. Well, guess that I was wrong. One lightning yellow 1:43 autoart car. Go figure!

Dude, ya gotta take the car out of the package. I bought one of these off eBay a while back, and the detail is simply incredible! Gotta take it out to appreciate it. Trust me, as soon as you do you'll toss that box and stand and never look back!

I bought one off eBay a while back...but it was from a seller in Hong Kong, and is a JDM spec car (RHD). The detail is indeed incredible (right down to carpeting in the trunk!). Of course it has black seats, not red/black like mine. And I have strakes and front/rear rotary accents; my model does not.

Here you go and I will take more come spring....can't wait for warmer temps!!! Wendy

A shop called Miatae in Miniature (http://www.miatae.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=MIM) sells them for $29 - I bought a 1/43 AutoArt TiGray from them before Christmas. They are a good shop, sponsors over at www.miata.net . Their web site only shows their current stock, so all colours aren't shown, but the owner, Eric, is very cool about finding special requests.

If Mazda isn't sending you one, check them out!

Thanks Gord, but I already got it..1/18 scale! Talk about detail, it has an engine cover that comes out, to show all the engine detail. It also has fabric seat belts....I even got a red one, with the red black seats..I can post some pixs if anyone cares..

I got a touch up paint from Mazda for the survey and definitely hoping they send me one of those diecast eventhough mine is not a pre-order.

I wonder if I'll get one even though I had to return the car.

according to the mazda accessories catalog the front/rear rotary accents for the 1/43 autoart rx-8 are $100 a piece. but i hear trussville has them for $75. strakes are $150 or $100 from trussville.

We plonked our money down on a vehicle that we had never seen, trusting that it would live up to our expectations, and then sat back and waited for seven long months before the cars finally arrived.

Actually, the timing of this gift makes me wonder if they're being dispatched on the first anniversary of our original orders.

well that would mean i would have to wait like another month since it took my dealer that long to figure out what was going on. i hope not. but at least voodoo got his today so that means they are making it to the west coast!

Got it in the mail today. It's made by Autoart, die cast metal and is color matched to your real RX-8. Doesn't have my options installed, though! :p

I ordered mine in July after I test drove one, and got it in Sept. I got a model, so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot other early buyers get them - at least those of us who ordered before the HP fiasco.

Wonder if there is an Autoart SILVER one... haven't found one yet.. all of mine I had to custom paint it.. ack.

I was lucky to get 2 touchup paints, so I used one to paint my tiny ZipZip to the color Silver. :)

Got my Titanium Mini-8 today. It's a nice touch, but what I would prefer is better communications about what initial launch problems are being addressed. I got my 3rd check engine light yesterday. I never had one on my 1st model year RX-7 Turbo, even after 17 years (bulb's probably loose by now :).

Ok, now I'm getting antsy- where's mine!! Wahhhhh!!!

I just got mine today. My RX-8 delivery date was July 15th. So, it seems the mailing order doesn't coincide with our RX-8 delivery order.

This would be really neat, except I already had one. Oh well, I guess it's better to have too much of a good thing!

Yes, there is a silver one. In fact, in the 1/43rd scale, Autoart has all of the colors. We have the full range in our parts department right now. I'll snap a picture tomorrow if I remeber to bring my digital camera with me.

ME TOO ELARA! to make matters worse my wife pointed out to me last night that the last time they sent something i was at my apt instead of in my new house! i dont think they have my new address. the forwarding is still in effect at the post office i think. i have got to make some calls.

Hmmm...now I am wondering if I will get one!! The official order on the sheet I got was the end of July but I made a change to it in early August. I ordered mine in July, was due in Sept., and when I went to pick it up (was black), I saw a gray one on the lot and fell even further in love, so I took it instead. They still offered the buyback/$$ and maint., and I got my little car yesterday. You should definitely qualify.

In the past, I had always received the gifts two to three weeks after the initial posting on this forum. It was much to my surprise that I found the little car sitting there waiting for me at home yesterday evening.

It seems there is no rhyme or reason as to the sending order of anything (gifts and ortherwise) from Mazda.

Must say that the diecast is a very pleasant surprise indeed.

... today, I finally received the steering wheel touch-up paint!

No guys you are not having triple vision. you are seeing 3 touch up paints. 1) came with the car. 2.) for the survey. 3) just came in today with a fancy case.

I'll be happier if they'll send me the diecast or strakes or maybe ECU upgrade :D
I don't know what Mazda is trying to say but damn 3 bottle since October when I bought it. It's not like I need it coz it's been 1.5 months since I drove it and it only have 1200 miles.

Actually, both the 1/43rd and the 1/18th Brilliant Black and Velocity Red have the black/red two tone interiors. The other colors in both sizes have the all black interiors.

I have preordered and custom ordered several other cars and nobody did anything like this (Lexus did send me cookies once). I miss my RX-8 even more now.

My Brilliant Black was waiting for me when I got home. Unfornately, the interior doesn't match mine but it does have clear sidemarkers!

Are the doors supposed to open on the 1/43 model?

got my car yesterday. haven't opened it yet. busy. never got paint. "ordered" it with my Stage 1. Assume when I get that then I'll get the paint. Maybe the paint is an optional dealer thing?

After seeing that you can get them on Ebay for less, I am almost embarassed to say that they are $35. It seems as though we didn't get a vrey good deal on our actual purchase price on them as there is not much of a mark up.

ohhh, so only receive thank u gifts if pre ordered? i bought off the lot 2. well, they had to "find" the one i wanted. it ended up being on display in a local mall. i thought i was gonna have to order mine. there weren't any on the lot w/everything i wanted and in the right color. they gave me a loner 8 while i waited on them to get mine out of the mall & detailed.

Looks like you've already got a lot of stuff on yours.:) Also you probably paid less than we who ordered Jan. 9 or 10, so you can buy the big model with the doors that open.

I pre-ordered in April but made a last minute switch to a vehicle arriving earlier (though it had a few more options than I originally planned - it was worth it to reduce the wait). I have been following the "gifts" received by others (but not by me) and was waiting for Mazda to catch up with my change and send them along. When I saw that a die-cast joined the list I sent them an email to inquire.

They replied same day and followed up with a phone call from marketing. They are trying to pull the various items together and will send them to me in the next couple of weeks. I am very pleased with their quick and courteous response. They really seem focused on the customer. Thanks for keeping me up to date on your "gift" activity.

I look forward to receiving a package soon.

I think I am gonna email mazda and see if I can get one.....worth a shot! Let you all know what they say.

Ok.....Mazda emailed me back. Those diecast cars are limited to preorder buyers and had only so many available to Mazda. In turn they are sending me an RX 8 T-shirt. So, only a limited number were going out to the preorder buyers. Well, at least I got a shirt out of the deal!!! Let you know when I get it.

I just got mine today, but that's because it got forwarded in the mail. I pre-ordered in January of 2003..

Actually....me being the petty person I am...not getting a toy car really gripes me. I want one! (free)...but then again, if you pre-ordered your car I bet you paid a bit more than we who bought off the lot...maybe. So I guess you all really paid for the model also.

Not wanting to start or restart a thread, but yes, I think the prevailing pre-order price was MSRP -- minus a thermos, a coffee table book, a $500 debit card, and free service for warranty life. You may still be way ahead financially.

My pre-order price was was $1,500 ADP plus MSRP -- minus a thermos, a coffee table book, a $500 debit card, free service for warranty life and a 1:43 Diecast model.

I think the lot-buyers win, particularly since I had already bought a 1:43 AUTOart diecast velocity red RX-8 model back in June on eBay, while I was waiting for the real thing. Cost $43 and, appropriately, I had to wait two weeks for it to come from Hong Kong. Only difference is that the eBay one is right-hand drive and the new one is left-hand drive.

Go figure ...

Finally got my diecast RX-8 - 2 months after everyone else.

Just recieved mine yesterday and I took delivery of my 8 July 23 !

better late than never

yesterday. I was a pre-order, got my 8 on Aug. 27. So far, got the book, thermos and cup, and touch up paint in addtion to the model. Does Mazda love me or what? My wife got a MB G500 in '02 and we didn't get "squat" from Benz! Do any other manufacturers do this kind of thing? At least Mazda hasn't kissed us off completely after getting our money.:D like most car dealers and manufacturers do.
