Some of you have talked about the 8 vs 350Z, s2000, and such. I'm stuck on the fence between the 8 (super handling and revvy) vs a GTO (fast as Sh*t and real V-8 rumble). Drove the GTO today. I could wait for the Mazdaspeed 8 to come out - but cn't really wait that long for a new car. HELP !

the GTO is fast but (butt) ugly. the 8 is awesome looking but somewhat quick. maybe you're better off with the 350z or g35. both or aesthetically pleasing to the eye and fast.

From what I've read, it's out in Japan in its first iteration. It's to come here in 2005 (model year or calendar year, I don't know).

I know I would enjoy driving the GTO; I looked at one at our Mazda/Pontiac/Subaru/Porsche dealer briefly. The problem is, to anyone else it looks like a 2-door Grand Prix or something. That makes for a good sleeper, but I really like the way people admire the 8.

When I was test driving the GTO a carload of girls that stopped at a light beside me started getting all worked up over the GTO's engine sound and color - yellow. Hasn't happened to me in the 8.

You have got to be joking. On the other hand, you ARE in Louisiana.

Hey, is it crawfish season right now? And even if it's not, is it possible to get fresh crawfish in say Alexandria, LA?

The crawfish thing is just not funny. For real humor, check out the KLEGGSPEED thread..

Now that's funny. Hey, I'm not trying to be funny. I'm trying to find out how I can get crawfish this time of year.

They're coming into season. Alexandria is not really considered part of Cajun country, and those of us in South Louisiana would be suspicious of Alexandria crawfish.

All I know is, you have to suck the head....(of the crawfish)

True story, when I was a young klegglet I had a pet crayfish...every time I eat one, I feel guilty, like I am eating dog or cat...

i was looking at the GTO too since a friend owns a pontiac dealer.

1) i didnt want to wait
2) the rx8 looks alot nicer
3) i had a Pontaic Grand Am and wasnt crazy about the car/company

but here are some REAL reasons to consider

if the GTO is ur only car and u live in an area which has snow will the car be a good winter car? How is the traction control and such on it. I know nothing about this and u should look into it. I think the 8 is great on snow if u have winter tires.

What kind of engines do you prefer or have u worked with in the past. If you know the V8s like the back of your palm then the GTO will be an awesome car to get. Teh RX-8 is a rotary(yeah first time u heard this huh) so it might take a lil learning.

are you intro AutoX, Drag racing Drifting.. BLAH BLAH BLAH pick ur race, which car stock would be better for your prefered race. I like AutoX so the RX's handling was important to me

Shocka - I agree with you on everything (but no snow for me to worry about in Louisiana - last snow here was a dusting in 1988).

I've had two Mustang GTs and two lete 60s Cutlasses, so I know the V8s, and love the sound and instant power. I also have a Miata, and have had a GTI, and ride a sportbike (so I know handling and high revving). That's my dilemma. I'm "into" NASCAR, and rallying - but can no longer race due to a back injury.

I'm leaning toward the 8, but its hard to resist the V8.

Thanks for the info on the crawfish. I might drive through LA in March.

Hey, why don't you wait for the new Corvette?

I've toyed with that idea, but I need to have a back seat - even if it's not really adult functional.

I love sucking the yellow gut juices from the crawfish head. It's really tasty.

Hey Hetz, last year I drove through Alexandria and I got 5 lbs of crawfish at that place (forgot the name) using the old gas station. Basically, they got a garage and a small room with a couple of refrigerators. Do you know that place?

I think you're talking about "Big Daddy's" on MacArthur Drive... Near Hwy. 28...
