I'm new to the "SPORT CAR" world. Lets say I was to race somebody, whats the fastest steet car I could take? Of course I have the 6 speed? Is it safe to rev up to around 7000 rpm? I just don't want to mess up the engine, I'll have this car for a long time and would like it to run well for its life time. Thanks....

Hyundai Sonata.

Seriously, if that's what you're all about, go buy a Mustang. You've missed the point of the RX-8.

Are you planning on buying the KleggSpeed mod. first. I don't think I would try racing too many people before I put my KelggSpeed Stage II mod in.

Oh boy, I can't wait to see the Speed Nazi's posts on this one. " Street racing??? I feel for the innocent people " blah blah blah.
What's the fastest car you could take? Well the RX-8 can supposedly do 0-60 in 5.9 sec with a clutch drop - so do some comparos.
Don't exceed 4000 rpm until you've got 600 miles on the odo. Then let it rip all you want - screw 7000, take it to 8500.

You take alot of cars on the road from a freeway launch... you can take a:
Chysler Crossfire
Porsche Boxster
Z4 2.5 & 3.0
G35..(my friend has a auto... and it does 60 in 6.0-6.5)

you can take alot of cars... the rx-8 isn't slow in straight line.. its pretty damn quick...

DiftnDraft,

Do a search on Kleggspeed and it will come up. What can I say but it speaks for itself.

Don't forget the driver -- a lot depends on that. Heck, you could take a Vette if the guys misshifts, doesn't redline and drops a transmission.

However, if you do want to start racing, you have to learn to hit the redline. Especially in the 8 -- all your power is in the upper RPMs -- get there as quickly as you can and try to stay there.
