anyone regretting the color they ordered? i ordered titan. grey and now im kinda regretting it and want to change it to black:(

i went with titanium at first but have changed it to silver. it looks good both ways but i started to think the titanium was to dark for our gray winter skies. besides the wife wanted the silver to begin with.

I ordered black with black/red interior, GT package.

I'm happy with the color, specially since I've looked many times at the blue I initially wanted and I'm glad I didn't get it.

Red is just a big no-no in Jersey where insurance is the highest in the country.

Did they tell you anything about pre-orders that needed to be in by the end of the week? I planning to go to John Hine tomorrow or Saturday... as soon as I can decide whether to go Touring or Sports.

I ordered the Titanium with the black/chapparal leather, and the more pictures I see of the Titanium the darker it is looking. I got used to drooling over those Titanium pics that somebody shot from the LA show under all of the bright lights, and now those pics from Laguna Seca that Buger posted the link for....taken outside in the daylight....makes the color look a little too dark for what I was hoping for.

None of the offered color choices really excited me when I first saw them....they still don't. I would have picked the Sunlight Silver if I would have been able to get the black/chapparal interior with it. I don't understand why that is not an optional color combination. Maybe it would look like shit in person.....who knows?

I really like the black with black/red interior like Hercules has ordered, but both of my other cars are black and I'm kind of sick of it. Plus I think some of the dark colors hide some of the body lines.

I'm going to see the Titanium in person in a couple of weeks at the auto show in St. Louis, and if I really don't like it I am going to see about switching to Sunlight Silver with black/black leather.

So, I went with the Green, a new colour [obviously Canadian] for Mazda and one which should be easy to keep clean and stylish.

Any other buyers getting green?

Cheers I had the same problem with the blue.. it's too light.

I picked Titanium but after looking at the Laguna pics of the car, it's way darker than the Detriot shot. The Black and Silver ones are getting to me. Even the Red looked nice when I saw it in LA. Decisions....:confused:

I picked the titanium grey because I had seen it on the SE Miata and loved the color there. I for one and sticking with the titanium and am confident in my decision :cool:

I initially placed my order with John Hine also, but decided to go with another dealer (due to reputation). Anyway, I talked to the Internet Manager over there after placing my order online on Jan 8, and he was telling me that I should come in to sign the paperwork next Wed (Jan 22), so I don't think they HAVE to be there by the end of this week....

I order the Titanium gray, based on what I saw on the website. Which doesn't do any of the car colors justice. I ordered Titanium because I wanted something a little different than Black. Which was my original choice. But after driving a Black car for 10 years, and seeing some new pictures of the Titanium. I am very happy with my color choice.

I'm curious is the mazdapseed version will give us dark blue or dark red.

Just got back from the NAIAS in Detroit! I had already pre-ordered Titanium with black leather but wasn't sure how dark it really was. None of the online pictures is a good representation of any of the colors!

My thoughts:

The velocity red mica is incredible. I don't like red cars but I actually had my dealer on the phone to change my color choice -- I ended up staying with the Titanium but I was really tempted by the red. None of the pictures can really show how this color sparkles. There are gold flakes (mica) in the paint that give it an awesome depth. I took a poll of my 10 buddies at the show and 9 picked the red as the best color. Someone earlier said it looked like candy apple red -- this is close -- candy apple red has a coat of gold under the red - the velocity red has the gold in the top layer itself.

The Titanium is much lighter in person than it appears in the online pictures -- also a lot of depth and sparkle. The car looks very solid in this color -- the show car had the chapparal inserts -- I didn't care for them. The titanium does not look like the "iron" color the online pics make it look -- much lighter -- really highlights the lines and angles of the car.

The Black is a waste of time -- and I really like black cars. It hides all of the lines and great angles of the car. The black car was not getting the response that the others were at the show.

The silver is very -- very light. Didn't have the depth of the Titanium.

The green is an awesome color -- Will look great with the chapparal inserts.

The blue looks fabulous -- a lot of sparkle and depth -- I think it is somewhat darker than the pictures show.

Ok, I just gotta ask, where did you see a blue one at NAIAS? I was there yesterday and all I saw was the black, titanium, and red. Did I miss something?

Good thing... The Titanium look in the Laguna meet looked like a metallic color of the gray the 94 integras had.

So over all what color seemed to bring out the lines of the car the most?

Just commenting on seeing the actual paint color chips on the wall behind the RX-8 display area. They look very different in person that they do on the PC.

Of the three that were there (Black, Titanium and Red) My opinion was that the Titanium showed the lines of the car by far the best. The red was the most awesome attention getting color and the black was not a good color for this car. The red made me want to go put a speeding ticket on the display car! The Mazda rep let me go sit in the red display car (only the black and titanium were open to the public) since I had pre-ordered! The black and titanium cars were beat to shreds by the public and a poor representation of the interior quality -- sitting in the red car really gave a good impression of the interior quality and finish and you could literally see the paint sparkle as you sat behind the wheel -- this is no orangey - bland red -- it is literally on fire.

In addition to the three cars on display Mazda displayed 12"X12" samples of all of Mazda's available colors for all cars -- including the RX-8. The point of my post -- if it was lost on some -- was that the paint colors look very different in person than they do on the internet -- in other words -- you definitely need to see them in person before making a conclusion on too dark or too light, etc.

You definitely want to see the colours in person.

I fell in love with the yellow when I saw the car in person back in Feb’02. During the last few months I started to have second thoughts about the yellow because of the many wonderful shots of the red car.

Well, I just got back from the Detroit car show and am I glad I went because I’m switching back to the yellow after seeing the red at the auto show.

Agreed. Titanium looks much better in person than in the Laguna pics, which represent that colour as opressively dark, IMHO. Detroit pics were much closer, but ya gotta see 'em for yourself!

Wish I could see the colors in person before ordering, but no chance of that. Originally ordered the blue, but switched to sunlight silver with red interior after seeing the Rotarynews Laguna Seca pics.

i'm wondering why not more people like the yellow? i think it's AWSOME. Yellow is one of the most popular colors for cars this year. and i think even 350Z is coming out with a yellow color next year. if i get a 8, i'll definately go with yellow....it's hot, attractive and ..eye catching ...chix dig that :D

nope no yellow leather. that pic is from a long time ago, notice the engine start button

so there is no engine start button now? i thought they were gonna make it so that i will be like the S2K...thats too bad. plus, that yellow leather looks hot :D

One of the reasons is that Mazda only had yellow prototypes for almost a year and some of the members here are just tired of looking at it. I for one still think that yellow still looks the best. Remember that colour selection is so subjective and there are no right and wrong answers however yellow still looks the BEST!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Yellow is only available with a black interior (cloth or leather).

Has anybody seen the yellow at Laguna Seca? Does it look the same as in the prototype/promo?

How about the Nordic Green has anyone seen a pic, or can direct me a sample better than that on the Mazda site?

it is unfortunate that yellow insert is not available as an interior color (but i guess the only color it would go with is yellow anyway). however, the other day i was in a mazda dealer and saw a yellow protege 5 with a custom interior. it had black leather with yellow inserts! and it both looked and felt great, very nicely and professionaly done. so maybe the same can be applied by the dealer or on your own to duplicate the interior of the show car...

Best bet would be to do your own custom leather interior (and become one of the ricer boys). :D

I can see having yellow inserts in the doors, but the seats would just get too dirty.

The Titanium show car in Detroit had tan leather interior and it looked very good. I was actually surprised -- had initially thought that the tan leather would not be a good match for any color other than the Nordic Green or Black -- but it looked good with the Titanium -- I actually almost considered changing from all black to the tan inserts. Decided to stay with all black just because it was my initial desire and pre-order -- but I would be fine with the tan inserts with my Titanium.

RXhusker is right, the titanium with the tan leather was very nice. I was surprised at how well it went together. I took a lot of pictures if you want to see what it looks like- go look here (http://www.elysianplains.com/album/mazda/page_01.htm) to see them.

I'm having to delay my (UK) order for the car because the initial colours don't appeal to me. We are getting black, silver, red & titanium in the first batch. I thought titanium would be OK but having seen other cars in that colour I decided against it. British skies are so grey that the car will disappear! So bearing in mind that I dislike yellow I'm left with blue or green in the subsequent deliveries (whenever that will be - anyone know?) and without doubt green appeals the most. Perhaps I'm crazy to wait many months just because of the colour but hey: if a job's worth doing then it's worth doing well!

Postscript: well it's several days later and I've ordered a blue car for delivery later in the year. Nice!

Changed from blue to titanium today (after some hassle with Mazda and the UK website) because the blue seems too light in most of the photos I've seen. It's noticeable that the only official Mazda image of the blue (on the Japan site) is heavily in shadow to make the colour look darker. I PhotoShop enhanced it and it looked way too light for my taste. Colours are totally subjective so it's what suits the observer that counts. The car will look great in any of the colours it's just finding one that suits you best that's the issue.

Had to be blue. I did toy with the green, but the limited information I could find (I haven't seen a single photo of it in natural light) suggested that it's very dark. My current car is BRG and I certainly wouldn't go any darker than that.

Lensman, I saw your Photoshop job and it looked "overexposed" on my monitor at least. In terms of overall brightness I'd put the blue somewhere between the silver and titanium based on what I've seen so far, probably closer to titanium.

The blue will look great but it's not for me. I'll bet you your spare tyre that my photoshopped image is close though! ;)

Yes it's going to be a dark green definitely darker than BRG.

At night it will probably be mistaken for black most of the time.

Well since The revitup events are going has anybody changed their mind on color.

After seeing the Winning Blue my jaw hit the ground. I was tempted to change... but then I saw the Titanium too right after for the first time and then my jaw created a 4 foot deep hole. :D

Where do you have to enter the color of your vehicle when applying for insurance? That is so bogus, I have never ever had to declare the color of my car!!!

White is great! Too bad mazda doesn't offer it. Due to the sun, white is the color to have in florida. I had to settle for silver.:confused:

It is not that the insurance charge you more because it is red, it is that the red sticks out attracting attention from everyone, including police.

NJ is a police state like crazy, and insurance is already high enough, inviting tickets by buying a red car is asking to get raped.

I am also VERY upset that white is not an option for the US. I e-mailed my father countless pictures of the white rx-8 in hopes he could somehow manage to get one sent here for me. (He's corporate Mazda) He sent me back an e-mail (a while back) that shwoed the chain of people it went through in Mazda and their responses. No way I can get it unless I have it painted after it arrives here. My father discouraged me from that, telling me that it would immediately depreciate the value of the car, and they might screw it up. It looks like its Sunlight Silver for me. I was told that it has been brought up at some of the meetings and it very well could be an option in the next few years. If Mazda thinks there is a market for it, you can bet they will make it available . I want that white RX-8!

I ordered the winning blue, from pictures posted on the web it looks lighter than the mutant blue X car. I was hoping it would be more like the Daytona blue of the Z, but it looks lighter.

So far I think I made the right choice. I had a red pontiac firebird the first knightrider model - my cousin worked for pontiac and got one of the first ones in 1982. So I didn't want another red car although it looks great. I have a black laser and it's a bitch to keep clean so I didn't want to go with another black car.

The silver and grey look great but I'm sick and tired of seeing silver cars on the road. So I went with the blue, not having seen the car in green at the time of ordering. Forget the yellow to wishy-washy. It doesn't seem like many other people ordered the blue, I like being different. The dealer said if I didn't like the blue when it came in he would have no problem getting rid of it - I would just have to order another.

from the pictures i got when i messed aroudn on that mazdaspeed site, the black with mazdaspeed front end looks really nice, better than yellow anyhow. hrm, atleast in the pictures. but i think i'm still very happy with yellow so i don't spend a fortune on mazdaspeed fenders =p
