hey guys, reading all of your postings has helped me a hell of a lot in making my decision to pick up an 8. i live in T.O. so i was skeptical about the winter driving but after reading all the threads i felt a lot more comfortable and on top that was well informed as to what type of winters i would need. i'm full of excitement i pick up my car in 4 hours, so i can't even sit still, i'm sure you can all imagine how much i slept last night...
i'll let you all know what i think as soon as i can pull myself out of the drivers seat later this evening.
thanks to all.

aaymax,
Welcome to the board. I too live in TO and drive my car every day. The key has been the winter tires (Toyo Garit HTs). No problems driving around despite all the snow we've been getting. Word of advice: go out and get winter tires on 17inch rims. If you choose not to, please let me know what color you're driving so I can stay clear! (j/k) But it really is that bad without the better rubber on a rear-wheel drive sports car. Even with the winters on, my traction control light comes on about twenty times each way on my 5 km downtown commute!

the car is absolutely awsome, i picked up the car and went straight over to my tire guy to get a set of winters installed. i got the toyo HTs with 17" FRD 30s. they look sweet for a set of winter rims. the winter driving isn't too bad at all, had my first taste of snow driving on friday a few hours after picking up the car. runs great, handles even better. have been getting lots of looks and many more complements.

As far as top speed... too fast for our roads anyway. I've had her up to about 185 Kph and backed off because of traffic. She sure felt like she had a lot more to give. I haven't had any trouble starting in cold weather yet. I ordered winter mats back in September from the dealer only to find out that they are backordered until April. That does me no good so I went to wal-mart and picked up a pair of R Racing mats with blue stripes to match the car for $28. They also had the same mats with gray stripes that might match your car. Worth it just to keep the salt off the carpet...
