Your dealers should be notified. Maybe they didn't take care of your licensing with the DMV.

It all depends on how many inmates are currently in the slammer. The more cons on the line, the faster the plates get stamped!

I think you should allow a full three months - if it takes longer than that contact your dealer or the DMV...

I got mine on 7/28 and the plates showed up in mid-September.

The dealers can take up to 30days before even submitting the paperwork to DMV. It could take up to 90 days before you get your license plate, but typically from my experience it's about 6-8weeks.

I called and looked into this..

Apparently my plates were issued Sept 12th, less than a month after I got my car (Aug 16).

They were sent to the wrong address (last digit was wrong). Unfortunately where I live, I don't think people are very kind otherwise that person would have taken a minute out of his or her day to give me my mail.

Anyway, I have a DMV appointment in two weeks to request for new plates (no charge).

When I bought my car the dealer had a bunch of plates in a filing cabinet, gave me one on the spot. Is this unusual?

Nope, that is what my dealer did.

Wow, that is cool. I wonder why they don't do that all the time. I've always have to wait in the mail.

um that sounds very suspicious.. isn't the DMV in charge of stuff like that? Plate assignments, etc??

Fianlly got my plates today bought my 8 on Sept 17 2003, took long enough. The Mazda business section is where you should call to find out when they submitted the paper work. Then estimate 1-2 months before they arrive, right after they submitted it.

Yes and no!

The DMV issues a series of plates to the dealer. The dealer then issues the plates and has 30 days to send the paperwork to the DMV. I never recieved anything back form DMV after the sale. The only thing missing from the registration was the title #. This is not the norm as I have seen some dealers issuing 30 day tags and some issuing plates.
