I doubt that. We just hear about it more regularly thanks to the internet and global news reports.

That is probably the most overrated excuse I hear all the time. I'm not buying that.

society is nearing a major breaking point. DarkLord, some of your response is accurate, it really is the case of it getting worse. true numbers dont lie. crime is up 9% in Chicago from last year. Detroit has over 1000 shootings and 400 deaths. NY has 37 this year already, a total of 32 entire year in 09. just some of the major cities around the Midwest where I am from.

It's not just crime I speak of, it's society's progress to....what's a good way of saying it..demoralization. People are becoming more tolerant of things I believe were solid grounds for good morals or ethics and instead, they're becoming loose or all together done away with and provide breeding grounds for bad morals, behaviors, views and attitudes which spawn way to much much worst catastrophes. Crime many times is just the end result of this.
I see this contrast to when I was young how people are, how the act, their views, the attitudes, so forth. Of course one could say my views change as I get older, of course. But the general consensus population that I see has been the same throughout time and how they act in today's society speaks volumes contrast to the days of old.

i think on a whole, per capita, we are down on violent crime since the middle ages.
you know, people used to rape and pillage for fun. it used to be the thing to do to the town over.

i realize there is a different between a knife attack on kids in kindergarden and Gun deaths but the point is about the comment of humanity's downward spiral...
at least... as far as the story reads, none of the 28 were killed.

Just look at the levels of professionalism, education and what concepts of ethics are prevalent today compared to the 50s. Most people don't even have good table manners anymore.... Look at the planet's progress in technology from 1900-2000; I don't think we are on track at all. Doesn't take a genius to realize where things are heading.

this story is appalling...if there's one thing that I approve of this news story, is that the man who did it last month was sentenced to death, and executed by the next month.
At least they mean it when they say they're going to punish people for such crimes. I hope America can find a way to regain control over crime and murder, else wise, who knows what we'll become more tolerant of...
