Everyone has been speculating on these numbers, so let see your guess. Of course, this is for the 6spd MT high power version.

i'm maintaining that this car is still amazing with a 6.1 0-60 time... i mean, the RX-7 gave up 0-60, and speed at the end of the quarter mile to the NSX, but everyone knows it's faster... ;)

I thought I'd revisit this thread since we've had our first actual result: Car and Driver getting 5.9. Keep in mind that this was the pre-production version, and they had a very limited time to test the car. I think that once the magainzes get ahold of actual production versions, and have longer to really test the car, we'll see some results even better than that. Who knows, maybe it'll hit that 5.7 that none of you voted for.

And who actually voted for 6.4+?? Geez, you people have no faith.

*nod* I think any guess above 6.0 is actually inaccurate now that C&D got 5.9 after only a few test runs.

So let's keep the guesses to ~5.9 and less. I personally am very pleased with the 5.9, as the G35 Coupe does it in 5.8, so not too shabby eh? :)

yeah, thats why i picked the 5.8-5.9 thing, except there was a problem with the mechanism so i gotta try it again. Maybe it WILL make it to 5.7, afterall, it is lighter now isnt it?

How would you launch a rotary powered car? Same as any other high revving engine powered one? What did Car and Driver do? 7,000 rpm launches? :D

Any predictions for the 0-60 on the auto?
How much is the penalty for the detuned engine & torque converter?

It is not detuned, it is just rev limited. I would suspect it to be substatially slower.

the basic role of thumb is to add 1 sec for auto

Quick_lude's got the idea. You have to rev it higher. :) With the renesis' lack of bottom end it'll be quiet high.

I thought the auto was detuned and lower reving? I thought I read that the bottom end is better on the lower end varient. (kinda like the RSX vs. the -S)

I'm not sure that pre-production models tested by car magazines aren't actually finely tuned to deliver to give a little extra power.

I bought a 1999 Toyota Solara with a manual transmission after reading about a pre-production model duing 0-60 in 6.9 secs. Production models weren't that fast. The one I owned was about 7.3 seconds.

But a lot of this depends on how hard you want to launch the thing. With high RPM engines it is always a tricky balance of wheel spin and power at the starting line.

I think they are going to get 6.0-6.1 with tests with production models. That's what I voted for.

Regardless, there will be "claims" of faster times on this forum once production models start hitting the streets. I can't wait for the "I did 0-60 in 5.5 secs" threads.
