said7, I have always been a huge fan of the Falkens. If you want a smooth quite ride with superb handling in dry or wet conditions, this is definately the tire to go with. Yokohamas would be a close second but I would never again buy Nittos. Super fast tread wear and a hard rubber tire.

Good Luck with whatever you choose.

Carl

Sumitomo HTR+Sunitomo HTR+ (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Sumitomo&tireModel=HTR%2B)
Ultra High Performance All Season Radials!

I got mine in 245/40WR18

I would put the Yokohamas in 1st. I would go with the AVS Sports they have a good tread life and excellent dry and wet grip.

there are much better choices but none that are around the 100$ mark per tire...tirerack.com would probably tell you which is the best choice.

The Sumi's I mentioned above, in the size referenced cost $118 each, $508 for a set of 4 shipped to my home. From the Tire Rack of course.

Said7,
Since you're in Fla like me you don't need an all-seasons. The best tires you could get are Bridgestone Potenza S-03's - these are $200 a piece from tirerack.

Out of curiosity, have your originals worn out already?

Ditto to most of the above - Nitto has yet to make a tire worthy of putting on a real sports car. I'd consider the Falken Azenis Sport before the ST-115, but also the new Kumho MX. The Yoko AVS ES-100 is a good tire and inexpensive, but it's not in quite the same league as the S-03, Azenis Sport, or MX as far as handling goes. An all-season would be less capable than the ES-100 (but probably better than the Nitto!)

Gordon

Thanks for the input everyone! Im kind of a tire noob.

Unfotunately these tires are not for an rx8 :(
The tires im looking for are Size: 215/45-17. Id shoot a direct link but the tires site is framed.

I live in Florida where it is very flat and very hot. I dont want to spend too much between 100-120 per tire. (I want to replace all 4) Wanted to order online to save a few bucks. And i dont drive in the rain much.

Im replacing my toyo proxies which were great tires!!! Lasted almost 40K miles and still got a little grip.

Again thanks for the input any recommendations are appreciated.

In that size and price range your best bets are:

Dunlop SP Sport 9000
Kumho Ecsta MX
Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 (very good value)
Sumitomo HTR Z II
Yokohama AVS ES100

Those range in price from $80-110 and are all quite good for Florida.

What do you want from the tires? What climates do you go through? Will these be all year tires or summer tires?

AFAIK there are no Azenis tires available in a size that won't change your tire height noticeably.

If you read the posts above and looked at his location you would see that he lives in FL and just needs summer tires.

I put TOYO Proxes T1-S on my previous car (2000 Celca GT-S), the ride and grip were amazing, especially in the wet. In florida that's all you need. They are probably what I will get when the time comes.

Nobody is reading his posts, he needs 17inch summer performance tires at around $100 a piece.

Try Bridgstone Potenza RE-730 GenII. I had them on a Grand Prix GTP and they were way better than the Goodyear Eagle RS-A's that came on it. I paid $103 at Tire Rack For 225X16's.

why would you want a 215/17? The 245 45 17's are closer in height to both the 18" stock tires and the 16" stock automatic tires. The 245 fit well and you can get the best dry performance tire (my opinion) out there.

They're a little more expensive but worth it for the grip. Oh and BTW noahprtlnd, I live in Miami and my question is still valid. We have an often occurrence down here called rain. I don't recommend these tires for wet weather.

Not to argue, but once again you are not reading his posts. He stated that he does not drive much in the rain, and the tires are not for an RX8.
