noob question dont shoot

Getting new tires put on the car. I'm going from stock size 225/45/18 to 245/40/18 on stock wheelies.

Is a alignment actually needed?

Thanks.

Alignment needed? Not really, but always a good thing to do if it's been awhile.

Of course ensure they [re-]spin balance your wheels when installing the new tires.

Thanks huey. I never had an alignment done on the car, I got it last May so almost a year now.

But I'm not too positive if the dealer I bought it from actually performed an alignment.

The actual physical size change of the tires won't change the way they are pointing, so the answer is technically no.

However, the car will really wake up handling wise if you go from the extra-conservative factory alignment to something a little more performance biased.
