Trademarks are not verbs.

Actually, I understand why Adobe takes this line. Without some attempt to control use of a trademark, it slips into the language as a generic term like escalator, aspirin, kleenex and xerox.

They should be so honored that their brand becomes the sole-identifier of their product. Look at Band Aid. Also correct terminology is "photo-chop", meaning any paint program that chops or hacks away at a photo.

Honored? Depends on how you look at it. Losing brand identity can hurt in some situations - say for example if someone asked you to go to the drug store and bring back some Band Aids, and instead you came back with a generic substitute.
Imagine how frustrating (and damaging) it must be to see the brand identity that you worked so hard to build, becoming associated with your competitor's POS product as well.
BTW, all the "generic" terms I cited previously were originally trademarks, in case that point escaped.

I prefer the term photoCHOP ... that way you include everyone that uses other tools like The GIMP, Paint Shop Pro, MS Paint, or PhotoPaint...
who cares...
photoshop - photochop...
companies just want something to whine about...I think i'll sue the military for calling the Vietnamese "charlie" because they're loosing my identity...
