Any of y'all care to comment on SD Gov. Janklow's recent conviction & sentence for killing a biker? I have my own opinion of the man and the situation, and would like to hear yours.

I am of the opinion that SD should have been annexed by Canada in about 1946. That way, whenever anyone said Y'all, the canadians living in the province of South Dakota could shoot them.

Seems I recall hearing that they tried that in 1812, and it didn't work out. I don't think it much affected cross border shooting though. That's what South Dakotans love about North Dakota -- buffer.

Anyone that kills a biker should be put to death.

Note link under siggy pic, you might think I'm biased as an officer of a sportbike club

You're right, I think all that happened was the Canadians went to Washington, and decided they might as well burn it down while they were there.

Janklow got a deal because he was a politician. Any other Joe would have gotten 5 to 10.

It sickens me that he got away with it.

Yup, that's why the White House is white - they had to paint it to cover up the fire damage! (seriously!). We gotta stick to fire, they won't let us have guns up here. ;)

Gordon

I agree. I can't believe that after having prior offenses as well, after killing someone that's all he got. Anyone else would have been locked up for a long time.

It seems to me that I read he will be allowed to have a driver's license again after serving his slap on the wri... I mean, sentence. I can't believe that! Justice ain't blind, no matter what anyone tries to tell you.

Mr. Janklow has enjoyed a certain immunity of privilege for over 35 years. Prior credible accusations of rape and murder (and curious deaths of his accusers) have simply fallen away, and are scarcely mentioned in stories of this latest act. Finally, his characteristic disregard for those beneath him (i.e.: everyone west of Washington) has resulted in the death of a white guy instead of just another Indian, and for that he must pay, at least a little.

So much for my objectivity.
