Genom 01-26-2004, 12:40 PM No offense, but parents these days in a lot of places are idiots who SHOULDNT be parents, and anybody under 21 THINKS they know enough, but they dont. And anybody over 25 will probably agree :D English 01-26-2004, 10:28 PM buuuurrrp. qberror 02-07-2004, 03:22 AM Gee People! Once again quit telling other what to do. It's supposed to be a free country. I am shocked by the outcome of this poll. :( Jeff_pap31s 02-07-2004, 03:40 AM Well there is no Prob in Europe where 18 is the usual limit. khoney 02-09-2004, 11:22 PM Originally posted by qberror Gee People! If you can't handle the answer, don't ask the question. It seems any poll you start is just a means to flame people anyway. B-Nez 02-10-2004, 12:57 AM Originally posted by qberror Gee People! Are you complaining that we have laws that are "telling other what to do?" Or are you complaining that everyone didn't vote the way you want? And what do you mean "once again?" Have we had this conversation before? murix 02-10-2004, 01:05 AM Originally posted by B-Nez What are you on about? Are you complaining that we have laws that are "telling other what to do?" Or are you complaining that everyone didn't vote the way you want? And what do you mean "once again?" Have we had this conversation before? First off, I voted to lower it to 18. I only recently have moved back to the US from the UK where I spent years, so my perspectives are a bit different. While more than old enough to not have to worry about it, I find it interesting you can die for your country at 18 but you can not have a drink while doing it. My obersvation is that QBerror, with the numerous polls, simply likes to point at what he believes are the fallacies of a country he does not live in and seems to believe has close minded laws when perhaps he should spend more time worrying about what is going on in his own country and the EU. He should not be so suprised when he finds out that Americans like America. ;) If you do not like America, just try not to move here. Simple answer. :p No harm. Fun debate. Cheers. qberror 02-13-2004, 02:12 PM Originally posted by murix First off, I voted to lower it to 18. That's total bull ! I have lived in the US for over 5 years and still have family over there I see several times a year. I love the US and I like the people. My debates have nothing to do with the american people. It is the corrupt politicians that mess up everything. You have one point right though, Europe is just as bad off and there are tons of debates I could start, but I am more interested in the US, sorry man! If you don't like it, go to a european site. murix 02-13-2004, 02:55 PM America is a very puritanical country, founded on those principles, and things are still this way. Remember this before you are shocked. This is the same country that invented the war on drugs (they lost as soon as it was declared) and tried to outlaw alcohol completely. Many Americans, not all, do still think in the direction of what the laws represent, but this is affected by what region you are in. This does not make for bad people, simply a different way of thinking. We have different kinds of freedom in different parts of the world. What part of America did you live in? It makes a vast difference. Way of life in San Francisco is not the same as the way of life in Dallas where I used to live, and it is nice I can make that choice. I always like that quote from my Australian mates living in London. We got the criminals and you got the puritans. Who got the better deal? :D |
