Hey guys.

Purchased my RX8 a month ago at 102,000 KM. It's now at 106,000 KM or so.

The car recently developed a "stutter", jerks hard at low rpm, and at high rpm just feels "lean?". It's tossing a CEL, and flashes either 16 or 25 times if that matters ( I know on my Saab the flashes corresponded to an exact code).

Doing some reading I was thinking it might be the sparks (they were last changed at 60K) but now I'm thinking it's the coils.

What does the board think? Is there a way to diagnose coils? What are the best affordable aftermarket replacements if I decide not to go OEM.

Thanks guys. Yes I understand the RX8 needs to be warmed up and has it's quirks.

Better quit posting multiple places about same issue or you're going to have to put on a flame suit real quick like.
That's three now.

k, my fault.
just thread browsing to see if other people have the same issues with peoples responses with solutions to them.

I've thought it's coils/sparks and ordered them.

However I just realized I can sit in neutral and rev the car all the way to redline just fine, it's only when the car is in motion that the problem happens.

Does this mean anything? or am I just a car noob?

Plugs.

It's much harder to fire at high loads, the mixture is dense and the spark won't jump your (now huge) gap.

The flashing is from the knock sensor - telling you to stop whatever you are doing that made it flash. Take the warning.

It also sort of struggles to start.

Should I change out the coils as well? Or should i just shelf them until they inevitably go.

Thanks for the help stealth.
