Time for another epic Mazda Cape Cod Run for 2010. I have many ideas for this years meet. One of which involves the new Mazda dealer that just opened up here. I have also contacted Mazda to see if they will send another goodie package for this year.

it looks like you guys ended at horizons in sandwich for the one in 2008. if so will this be the same for the meet/run this year. i love that place although i heard they changed owners/themes.

This is my first time for this run so I dont know what took place in 2008. So what does it entail? Like how longs the ride (Start and Finish)? Dinner afterwards?

It's not a rotary only event, just a Mazda only meet. Read first post and you will see.

Ideas for the meet.
- Cruise on historic 6A (A scenic road with many twists and turns)
- Photoshoot on a ocean beach parking location.
- Lunch at the famous Kreame N' Cone diner


this doesn't explain where we will meet, take photos or end up but it does say where we will eat, which is important.

Read the line just below that. :) Nothing is concrete yet. I'm still working on the details. I'll expain it all once I know for sure.

Yeah we're definitely interested in it. We wanted to check out the auto shows down the cape last year but never managed to make it down : ( Should definitely be nice to meet up with members of the club.

Oh, the only free thing I have from sponsorship is the Lamin-X. Everything else I have paid for.

and the stickers. but keep your head up, lamin x is a good start. those look sweet. i want the yellow too. did they send you extra??? you could be a spokes person and infront of everyone at the meet do an install on my car and "show" how easy it was. ha ha ha.

In other news, I'm heading to the local Mazda dealer this weekend to see if they are interested in hosting an event for us.

I met with the GM of our local Mazda dealership and a bunch of sales reps. They are interested in having us meet there. He's going to talk with his marketing manager to see what they can do for us.

Off topic, but why is it almost every sales rep have no clue about the cars they are selling? First they thought my car was not stock color. Then one guy thought I had aftermarket seats with red inserts, and another saying, "That's a limited option...only 3,000 were made in that style." Seriously?

I told them it's factory Velocity Red and the seats are stock. One guy even said, "I have never seen this color before."

Sales reps can sell cars they know nothing about because most buyers have no clue what they're buying : )

Which may be the case for some people, but for those who do know it just makes them look bad. Almost all the dealerships I've ever been to are like this. Why would I want to buy a product from someone who is supposed to represent the company knows nothing about it?

In any case, these Mazda guys were cool and excited about the idea of all of us meeting there. I also mentioned doing a raffle thing so we shall see.

Sales reps can sell cars they know nothing about because most buyers have no clue what they're buying : )


a friend of mine use to be a car salesman and had no idea what happened when you turned the key. couldn't tell you why winter tires are better in the snow, didn't understand the functionality or oil or what the difference between a shock or strut is or what they do at all. but that kid could sell ice to an Eskimo, or bald flat tires to another car salesman. he made you want to give him your money just by talking to him. that being said he probably misinformed a ton of people and screwed a few and he fit right in at the local ford dealership in plymouth.

Do some of you guys meet at certain spots n drive from there or just meet there. I live in ansonia,ct n it would be cool to drive up wit bunch of 8s

there is not concrete meeting spot yet but i could meet you in Bourne. it's were the canal is. there is a large parking lot at the Friendly's next to the bridge. now that the rotary is gone it's a little difficult to get to but this will help.

either way they are realatively easy to get to and big enough parking lots too.

a weekend in the summer down the cape. you want to meet in a big parking lot because tourists can't drive. even if their from mass they loose all sense of right and left the instant they go on vacation.

I know all about the Bourne Bridge. Lived on Cape for 25 years. ;)

Our initial meeting spot will be in a parking lot along the canal before the bridge just like the other CC runs. I'll be posting the final itinerary for the meet shorty.

In other news...UPS dropped off 4 big boxes from Mazda. Got the goodies!

I've been on the fence for the past two weeks. I want to make it down but I have three deadlines for major projects the following week.

I'm out. Car might be totaled. Got cut off by an asshole on 24s on saturday and got tossed into an acura mdx and the guardrail after the asshole who cut me off blew his motor and a piece of the engine or turbo blew out of his car and hit my right front tire and ripped the wheel out of my hand. For the record I was not racing him he was trying to race me when I had cruise control set and turbo cobalts go boom.

The cloud of oil and smoke was so thick that the guy in the acura and I both thought that we hit the cobalt because we couldn't see anything and I would have spun more if the acura didn't stop me from spinning. I was getting hit with tons of shrapnel from the cobalt when his motor blew and finally something big hit my right front tire and that was all it took.felt like I hit a curb so I'm thinking it was like a huge chunk of his manifold or part of his turbo or something, either way it looked like a mine field of shrapnel from alliminum and egine pieces everywhere on the road.

I'll take pics later today or tomorrow when I go see the car, couldn't take pictures from inside the ambulance. The guy in the cobalt ended up walking back and taking responsibility for the accident, he was cited for speeding and a marked lane violation. I saw that he had an intercooler in the front bumper when he pulled in behind me at one point so I'm assuming he had the boost way too high. He didn't get very far and the first police officer on scene got a radio call that someone was walking back on the highway so they assumed it was him and they just waited for him to get up the hill and made him stand next to the ambulance and watch us get loaded in the back while the state trooper was writting his ticket and yelling at him for being an idiot. He had a star of life (the blue star on ambulances, similar to the one in my avatar but without the stripper and pole) in his back window so he was either an emt or medic and should have known better. The trooper said "look at this car(my car) this is what you just caused. Why were you trying to race him? His car (mine) is obviosly faster than yours and he would have killed you if he tried." I was laughing with the medic in the back of the ambulance while I was collared and boarded.

I'm fine I guess, I do feel like I got hit by a truck, my neck and back near my shoulder are real sore and I'm going home from work right now, thought I could work without the muscle relaxers I got at the hospital but I was wrong. So I'll be chewing flexeril and watching tv and making all the insurance calls today.

Man, well im glad youre ok, and im glad he took responsibility.. that will make things so much easier in the long run

Might still be down for this. Took a test drive in a super clean '07 MS6 yesterday and loved it. Completly stock so I would get a fresh start. Oh and only 20,000 miles.

Barring any insufferable bouts of ADD I should have enough work done to make it Saturday, count me in.

Lol we regularly pile into cars and drive up to the sonic solely because its the only one around. I could only imagine what would happen if they opened a Waffle House north of Pennsylvania... But seriously the CT contingent seems to run [semi] weekly meets I don't see why the MA people couldn't do something. There seems to be a fair amount of us in the metro area

Great run yesterday everybody good to see everybody. So I drove straight to my friends house after and when I went to leave the car won't start. Sounds like a flooded motor I think. Time for a compression test. At90000 mile better do it before my warranty is up. Just in time. Few more thousand miles I'd be screwed big time
