Thumbs up Tip of the week 02-28-10

Cleaning wheels, factory, chrome or after market.

Don't use spray cleaners, they will wear out the protective coating on chrome and painted wheels. For chrome or Aluminum, after time you will see the coating turn yellow.

Yes, all wheels have a coating that can peel off and discolor.

All you need:

A simple brush from the auto store (not plastic, wire, etc.) maybe a toothe brush, Dawn detergent, paper towels or cloth, wax.

If you don't care, you can use brake cleaner.

Most dish soap eats away at wax, so I wouldn't recommend using it on any waxed surface, unless you're doing the clay bar and expect the wax to all be washed off, and reapplied, anyway.

That's why the last ingredient is wax.

A lot of people don't wax their wheels.

Your not going to get tar and road grime off without a hars detergent.
