i have noticed 2 different types of rx8 dashes (either you hav Sat Nav or you dont)

Options
1.no Sat-Nav in the middle of dash
2.integrated Sat-Nav (press button screen comes up, press button screen goes down)

My dash has this manual slide compartment
manually slide back compartment and Sat-Nav screen tucked away
then you manually pull out the Panasonic Strada Sat-Nav/DVD player

anyways...
i removed the out dated Sat-Nav and installed iphone 3gs with dock integrated to stereo and charger too

That looks really clean! Nice work! You next project should be fitting a single din in there, so you could get one of those motorized screens. I think it would fit.

the retractable dash cover is a JDM (dealer / modder) option. I got mine from mazdaparts some time back and I they work through japanparts.com

Great conversion for the IPhone! There's always the carpc route as many of us have done. I have a USB port in my center console that my Iphone plugs into and my pc is housed in the center back storage compartment.

If I didn't have the stock Navi, I would definitely do something like that.

I need that so I can mount a screen so i can use my Hymee while driving without messing with the laptop on the seat.
