Ah another purveyor of the plastic faith!

Does this count as an import? ;)

Its a full resin 1/24ths scale model of the Audi R8R that won Lemans in 2001.

I can't view your pix, rotary nut.

Could it be some problems with my cookies?

i love building plastic model cars. where do you guys get your kits? any good internet sites? i would consider myself an advanced model builder and i'm looking for cars that have alot of moving parts like wheels that turn, hood and doors open, etc.

I'm a big fan of Tamiya. IMO their stuffs are the best in quality! All the parts are very well produced. I think that's important cause it would be a waste of time and effort if the model doesn't turn out well.

I usually visit the Tamiya (http://www.tamiya.com/english/e-home.htm) site for updates and check out the local hobby store for stocks. Usually the bigger scale eg 1:12 kit has more moving parts and more complex, which makes the whole assembling alot of fun. The Lotus Super 7 is the 1:12 kit, with metal body panel, and it doesn't come cheap, pay almost US$200 for it. The new Enzo is pretty cool as well, as it got the gull wing doors that can be open up. Bikes are pretty fun as well as they've got alot of moving parts.

I have heard STRONG rumors that Tamiya is bringing out a kit of our beloved 8.

I've not heard anything about them launching the RX-8 model kit, where did you get your info from? Tamiya usually introduce their new model kit pretty soon after the launch of the real car, eg. the 350Z. Somehow, the RX-8 takes a very long time. I'm not sure at all if they are gonna produce the kit at all. Unless, of course, they're facing some technical difficulties! That means, they might produce the RX-8 with movable suide-doors! Since the doors are one of the most interesting feature of the 8, they might just use that as their best selling point, which i think, they should.

Well nothing concrete just a lot of buzz from the car modeling masses. They have traditionaly done all the Mazda cars so it just stands to reason that they will be bringing one out. They have done all the Miatas the RX-7s and they have even done the Lemans winning 787B.

Hell Audi has won it three times in a row and they have not done the R8R so I think it will just be a matter of time.

i have a feeling tamiya's not gonna make the 8. like m-ster said tamiya is usually pretty quick about releaseing new cars, even w/ the real fancy enzo kit they did it quickly. it's a shame, 'cuz the fujimi rx-8 kit is ugly, and you know if tamiya made one it'd be awesome. but they've been releasing a lot of kits recently w/o engine so maybe they're cutting cost as well

here's tamiya's fd that i built recently:

Nice job. I am building mine without the wing only because I personaly don't like them. I like the black wheels! they really set off the canary yellow paint. What color did you use for the yellow?

thanks! i used testors basic spray can, i think it might have been called competition yellow...or maybe it was just yellow :D i think the instructions called for tamiya's ts16 yellow, but i was underbudgeted when i built it. still i like it, i think it's a little dark compared to the cym on the real car, but it looks nice

i actually had the spoiler off for a very long time, 'cuz it does looks real nice w/o the spoiler. i put it on 'cuz of the holes. however i'm building tamiya's r1 kit w/ the engine soon and this time i might fill the holes before i paint, and i'm gonna get the tamiya paint this time. that's a nice blue you got. i love tamiyas

Cool! I spray painted my FD with Tamiya spray and I will never go back to another brand again. It went on so smooth., polished it out with Novus #2 and BLAM! The pics do not do it justice! Yeah I think the car looks better without the wing. I think it ruins the clean lines!

I used to have the FD as well, but it was in pretty bad shape since I did look after it after I've building it. Anyway, I took the wing and put it on my Miata. Customization! It's cheaper to do in on model Kit:D

Well, these aren't model cars - they are RC cars. I think most of them cost $250-800 range each.

no pics here but I'm defintely a builder, from stuff as easy as the jada toy's 1/24th to a 1/12th Countach that had real suspension, working headlights, doors, hood, trunk open as well. I built that thing as a kid. I have a bunch in progress right now including a body-dropped (or channeled, whatever) version of the Mystery Machine, a 53 5 window pick-up that I haven't decided how to finish yet. I found a couple of those dodge sidewinder pickup kits on clearance one day for like 4 bucks a piece so I snatched 'em up and will use the engine, wheels etc. out of one of them for the 53 or the 59 caddy I have. I love modeling, you can do crazy stuff with glue and a dremel and the sky's the limit. I also do the r/c thing, somewhere on here I've got pics up of my baja beetle :)
