So I'm getting new tires tomorrow. Anyone want to drive around on Saturday to help break them in? I want to try and put 300 miles on them between Friday and Saturday so that by the time I get to Bremerton on Sunday, they'll have seen at least 400. If possible I'd like to hit 500 but I don't see that as being possible.

Stock suspension FTL! Sounds like he's running out of 4th on that long uphill straight... kinda nuts, that puts him at around 120mph uphill? I love seeing him FLY by that Supra around 6:40.

Man, it feels sooo good to be back on reasonable tires again. Coming back from Bremerton Sunday, I took the I-5 to 405 North interchange down by Southcenter at 65 in cruise control and 6th gear. I really wouldn't have been comfortable doing that on the All Seasons  Instead I think I scared the shit out of a minivan that was taking the turn at 30 in the other lane

TANKERG
03-02-2010, 02:23 AM
^ haha Glad you're back on good tires. How are they? Have you broken them in?

4th will get you 131-132 at the limit. Yea he's driving pretty fast. That's a hard course (at least on the video games haha) I agree with the Supra pass comment too.

I love when people think the 8s are slow.

^ haha Glad you're back on good tires. How are they? Have you broken them in?

Haha, just sent you a PM on them actually. Looking back on it, I'm really glad I did that event on the All Seasons. I think the experience has left me with a much better sense of what's going on with my tires. I *THINK* I can notice the difference in sidewall stiffness between the 255's and my old 245's but it's minor at best and might even be my fat ass moving in the seat more . There seems to be a little bit of... squirm? I'm thinking it's because the tread blocks are still so big, being a new tire with a very high wear rating and all :D: The grip is all there though and the tires break away very predictably and progressively. It's so much easier to ride the line of over/understeer in a turn-around on these than it was on the All Seasons

In general, sounded like he has a CAI and was shifting around 8-8.5k which is the "right" place to shift on a track according to Eric Meyer. The only time it's worth revving past that is if there isn't room to shift (finishing straight at an AutoX, closing in on a braking zone on a track etc.). His shifting was very smooth (seems like he's on stock suspension but you can't tell when he shifts), that's one of the biggest things I'm going to try and work on this season, getting my shifts to 2nd (and occasionally 3rd :D:) as smooth as possible on an AutoX.

My first 2 runs on Sunday I was still upsetting the car a bit when I shifted to 2nd... but I think I was a lot better for my 3rd.

TANKERG
03-02-2010, 03:35 AM

Here it is. http://www.targacanadawest.com/

They have some really reasonable bottom classes where it's basically stock cars with helmets and a first aid kit and you can run. It's bracket racing so you need to average a fairly laid back speed. Of course if it's raining and twisty that may not be that laid back.

Switched from Verizon Fios to Comcast cable today. My Fios speed 20mb/5mb and Comcast all day has been a steady 27mb/8mb. Sometimes bursts upto 30mb/9mb. The Comcast is supposed to be 25mb/3mb. I will keep running speed tests to see if it is consistent.

I have the phone/TV/Internet package with 3 HD TVs. Verizon was $155 w/o long distance. Comcast is $125 for everything, plus free long distance, free DVR with no monthly fee. Plus On Demand that I can stream from anywhere I have an internet connection.

But I lost the Speed Channel which I was told was included. Also lost Boomerrang which is a kids station my kids love. I can get the Speed Channel added for $6 per month but I'm sure if I speak with a manager they will throw it in. However getting Boomerrang is not an option because Comcast does not carry it in Oregon. This channel could be a deal breaker for my family so we will see if I keep it.

Any of you guys know what would happen, if I go to the dealer with the midpipe instead of the cat. As i need the latest MSP16 PCM Re-flash done. Obviously, the check engine light will come on and they will try to figure our why so they could fix it, and see that there is no cat.

Also, wasn't the old starter motor under recall or something, the dealer said no. I could swear I read people replacing them at the dealer. I could be wrong...

Ugh.. I can't believe I did this... let my 8 sit in my driveway for 7 hours.. RUNNING

I got home from my mother's memorial service yesterday and parked at the street end of my loooooooong driveway so I could finish pressure washing the driveway. I left the doors open to dry out my 8 because I spilled a bunch of water in my back floor while taking a huge flower arrangement out. I finish pressure washing and go inside to chill for a while. Come back out around 7 to close up the car and decide to move it up to the house. The engine was cold, so I decide to let it run for a few minutes before shutting it off, and take start unloading some of the stuff from the memorial. Well..... At 1:50.. AM... I decide it's time to go to bed. I look at the front door, thinking I locked it, but it wasn't. Then I thought I better go out and put the tarp over my 8 in case it rains (I have a windshield leak I need to take care of when things settle down next week), so I step outside and hear my car running... O...M...G...!!! The gas light was on and the needle was the lowest I've ever seen it. Thank God I decided to go out for the tarp!! Good news though.. it started up fine this morning and I made it to the gas station. It was kinda weird though... I expected to fill it up way more than I usually do, but it only took 13.4 gallons. Usually I put 13.6 in... Different gas station though. Would that make a difference?

And FYI... it ran for all that time on a quarter of a tank.

I got my shifter gasket fixed today, and it's not leaking fluid any more. Changed the transmission fluid and differential fluid. I never thought it will be so hart to find Red Line products. I went to 4 different places, and they didn't carry that product, only Baxter Auto Parts had them.

Also changed the E-Brake cover, as my plastic on the bottom broke a while back.

If the stations pumps are out of calibration then yes. There should be stickers on the pump when Weights and Measures came out and checked the pumps. If I remember right they're supposed to check it every two to three years. I'll try to find that out.

I've put in over 14 gallons a few times. The gas light comes on with 2.9 gallons left. I don't know how well this maps to rotaries, but with your average 2-3L piston engine it takes about 20 seconds worth of idle fuel to start. Obviously we run rich for the first while the car is on to heat the Cat so who knows how well it applies...

Picking up my Stoptech rotors at Corksport today. They came in yesterday but I was swamped and did not have time to pick them up. The wife has been sweating me lately about working on the car a lot so it may be a week or two before I get around to installing them. My car was down for 3 days a few weeks ago. Then the following week was in the shop for 2 days getting the sides and rear bumper pieces mounted and painted. And then Sunday mucking around with the taillights. I managed to put 15.1 gal in my tank at Costco a few days ago. It was a bit of a WTF moment, because I knew I was very low, but It hadn't run out yet. I've never seen a pump tell me I put in more than 14.6. And the one time I ran out (150' from the pump) I only got 14.3 into it.

LOL... when I'm standing at the gas pump, I always seem to notice the date punches on the stickers.. weird, I know. That pump had been punched for March 2010 - I remember being surprised because it was the most current pump I'd seen for a while :)

same deal you have. internet for 19.99 plus 12 bucks for cable but i added HD fo 6 bucks more
Well, I actually changed it couple of days ago. My deal was about to expire, and I went to Comcast to negotiate another. I was also late on my payment with 3 days, so I had to go there and make sure they don't charge me 6 bucks for late fee.

I had the basic internet speed of 12MB download, and 2MB upload for $19.99. I managed to get twice as fast speed, as I told them that I wasn't happy with my internet performance, for $19.99 and $10 for PowerBoost. So now I have 22MB/3MB and with PowerBoost is around 36-38MB/3MB. I need it to get the new modem that is capable of handling the High Speeds, but she hooked me up with a free rental.

Also, the Playoffs are here and I needed to watch my Lakers, so I upgraded my cable too. Got the Digital Starter (over 100 and some channels) for $29.99 and the HD box that you are talking about with no rental fee for 6mo.

The bad thing about Comcast is: the best HD signal they have is only 1080i, even though your TV is capable of showing 1080p Resolution. Direct TV has that signal but there prices are not as good and negotiable as Comcast's.

I'll be talking with them soon...

Part of my problem is I've been with them for a few years now and they only like to give special deals to new customers. I had 3 months half price when I started with them and that was all. Also my modem is old and probably part of the speed issues, sometimes needs to be power cycled to get it working again. And it doesn't help that I have internet only. So I pay just under $60 a month and very rarely get speeds over 500k (4Mbps). I'll speed check it again, it can be higher sometimes. But I don't usually see high speeds from individual sites, it has to be combined bandwith of multiple downloads from different sites.

Here are some pics of a WB 8 with a painted hood to make you drool ;)

Wow, that is a great looking hood... what's the weight like? Seems like a very worthwhile investment for a turbo'ed car if it's not overly heavy.

Side note: Today's weather is AWESOME. I'm going to try really hard to work the rest of the day from outside on a laptop...

I asked corksport about the autoexe hood about a year ago. I cried myself to sleep and masturbated with my tears at the price of that hood....but I still want it.

On another note, this will be one of my last messages from Iraq. We close my FOB on Sunday and move north to turn over all of our equipment and Strykers.....its been a long year.

Settled into my new "home" for 3 weeks...damn tents + triple digit temps = a lot of pissed soldiers. Oh and my units reputation has once again gotten the best of us. We are banned from like 5 buildings here because they are afraid that the "infantry guys will destroy it all"....God I hate this place. Now I need to spend $100 on internet for the next 3 weeks.

Of course as you all know my plans can change over night. :(

Give me a call or text me and we'll get together for dinner or beers. It's beer week up here in Seattle! :) Mike and I live in the same neighborhood.

OK so of course my plans to come to Seattle are changing. What's new.
I shall be shooting for 6/2/10. Come hell or high water I will make it up there. This could work out as I could return to Vegas just in time for the WHiV Meet.

Hmm ride to Vegas with one of the NW locals,,,,
