Rotr8 02-21-2010, 03:55 PM it would probably be cheaper and less time consuming to buy someones oem Shinka wheels or a set that are already polished,,, StealthTL 02-21-2010, 04:00 PM Man-up and do it yourself! http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=37805 http://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=26768&d=1093748077 altspace 02-21-2010, 08:28 PM Stealth, I don't know how you did it man. Must have taken you days because my paint was hard as steel. I tried everything to get it off and it took days for just one wheel. I gave up...after several weeks mind you. Mr.We$t 02-21-2010, 08:41 PM ManKlan I really wanna do this I always thought they were powder coated chrome! kanedrz 02-21-2010, 09:16 PM It takes too much time plus I have no tools for it. I just rather pay someone to do it. ZumnRx8 02-21-2010, 09:23 PM a lot of Powder Coating shops chemically strip the paint off of wheels before they powder coat them a different color. Maybe they will be able to help you in some way? altspace 02-22-2010, 08:21 AM Sand or media blast is the way to go. I tried chemical strip and even that did not fully work on getting down to bare metal. Maybe it was my wheels, not sure. My brother who is a body shop guy told me that most likely the primer they use is chemically bonded to the metal. Here's just one wheel that took days to get this clean. I even attempted to use a wire mesh wheel to take it off. http://www.altspace.com/rx8/wheel_polish.jpg http://www.altspace.com/rx8/wheel_polish2.jpg |
