Guys I want to install the Sparco racing harness on my 8 but I'm not sure how to do it, and i don't want to get a harness bar. Please guys if you have some tips for installing them on the 8 or how you installed them on any other car it would be appreciated.
here's a pic ( I decided to go with this one because I want to keep the factory seats and it has the rotary inspired hole in the seat)

I've asked the same question a couple of times and from what I understand most people would not recommend installing a harness without also installing a full rollcage and racing seats.
The comments that I've heard consisted of:
1. A harness restricts your upper body movement and in the case of a roll over you are more likely to get injured if the roof caves in. This can be minimized by adding a rollcage.
2. The shoulder belts on the harness would have to be routed around the outside of the stock seat and in the case of a frontal impact you would slide out in between the shoulder belts. This can be prevented by using a racing seat.

Some people want a harness for looks more than utility. For those people safety doesn't matter.
Some people (myself included) use a harness for autocross. Again, safety doesn't matter because chance of rollover is almost nill. I'm lucky in that Schroth makes a clip-in harness for E39s that works great for my application.
Regarding the stock RX-8 seat, I don't think the rotary opening is wide enough to have the belt make a smooth transition from through the opening to over your shoulders. I could be wrong though. You definitely can't have it outside the opening since that would be totally unwearable.
What's your intended application? That would help a lot in regards to installation questions.
