I just bought an 8. I'm loving it.
Well okay, so I didn't just buy it. I actually bought it in October, but am just now getting around to joining/contributing to this awesome site.
I'm probably not your typical 8 owner, but then again, is there such a thing? That's what I love about this site: it's full of unique personalities all united by one thing: love for the 8.
I'm a 33 year old teacher who was driving an Accord for the longest time. I first saw the 8 while living in Japan back in 04 and fell in love at first site. Since then, I always knew it was only a matter of time.. Last year, I married the greatest woman in the world. She drives a Prius! We bought a house last Spring and I thought, what would be a good "ying" to the Prius' "yang" in the garage? What would be the exact opposite of her "cute" little Prius? I knew it was time to pull the trigger on an 8.
I began researching and shopping (this site helped immensely so thank you to all of you.) I heard all the haters and read about all the drawbacks (guzzles gas and oil, yadda yadda yadda). I can live with that. The design of this car alone is enough to make you regain your faith in mankind. After some shopping, I was able to find a brand new 2009 Grand Touring Black Mica beauty for 25k. I couldn't be happier.

One thing about that: Slipping into an 8 and driving around feels that much better after cruising around in the Prius for a while. If we're going anywhere far, we'll usually drive the Prius. By the time we get home, I'm itching to jump right into the 8 and take off. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde!

I just picked up my 2004 8 on Friday.
Hello,
I'm new to the RX8 Club Family. Just got my 8 a few days ago, and enjoying the ride.
I was told about the fuel economy, or lack there of!....but bought it anyways. I must admit....it does use more than I anticipated! or maybe it is how I'm driving it.
Any suggestions on how to better conserve fuel? i don't plan on not driving my car....having way to much fun with it.
Your responses would be greatly appreciated.
PS: I hate that we have snow around here....wish it was summer, so I could enjoying the car alot more.

You can conserve fuel by limiting your short trips; keep the engine warm.
Get an oil pan heater heater for cold starts.
Or leave it parked

Now, when the weather is nicer, get a skim coat of plaster on the garage wallboard. And perhaps hot water tank insulation wrap. Honey-do's before mod's.
