I guess my plan on puttin a pair of subs on that spot is out. Thanks Brother! brothervoodoo 01-22-2004, 01:12 AM do a search on speaker boxes, some guy on here made a nice custom job in the back... You know, after reading your post again, I don't think we are talking the same thing, what bar/brace are you taking about? manok_adobo 01-24-2004, 09:28 PM You know, after reading your post again, I don't think we are talking the same thing, what bar/brace are you taking about? that flat silver bar you see when you take off the rear seats. You know, after reading your post again, I don't think we are talking the same thing, what bar/brace are you taking about? I'm a little confused too- I have a black tubular bar that my spare tire mounts to, which I'm planning on removing when I build a sub box for the trunk... the bar I'm talking about is just for the spare tire and part of the optional spare tire kit, right? I'm assuming you're talking about something else for structural rigidity... I hope at least :) -Sean Nubo 01-26-2004, 01:26 AM you can find this in the press kit Of course it's possible it may also have other structural purposes.... brothervoodoo 01-26-2004, 01:37 AM G8rboy, that's the point i wanted to make clear. You can get rid of the spare tire tube bar. But I wouldn't remove the diagonal brace that Nubo is referring in his picture above. The spare tire tube might actually have an unintentional benefit in stiffening the chassis. I saw some after market vendors selling something similar to help stiffen the car when taking extreme maneuvers. G8rboy 01-26-2004, 08:25 AM Ahh... that must be behind the plastic paneling (from the inside of the trunk, you can't see the bracing). If the spare tire brace served double-duty as a shock-tower brace than I would consider designing my sub box around it... but since it doesn't, it's outtahere. Thanks for clearing that up guys... -Sean WHealy 01-26-2004, 09:45 AM You can see the brace with the rear seats out. Very easy to remove. Here's a side shot with the rear sets removed where you can see the driver side cross beam. (http://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?postid=206722) |
