View Full Version : build date / other observations
swoope 01-21-2004, 09:46 PM curious as to who has the most recent build date????? mine 10/03 picked up car yesterday. had to be dxed.
anyone else miss the lack of storage area not enough nooks and cranys.
as to the traction control and dsc. i do know i was able to turn it off.
drop clutch and drive away briskly. note the torsen rearend does work.
just a test i had to do.
also speedo and odometer are damn accurate. speedo off by 1.3mph odo off by less than .1 mile after a 20 mile run. wish my bikes had this.

D MENAC 7 01-21-2004, 09:54 PM How does one determine build date? This may be a dumb question but I have never seen this asked on here.
swoope 01-21-2004, 09:58 PM open drivers door. look at sill of rear door. it is the same sticker with vin and tire inflation info.

emailists 01-21-2004, 10:23 PM I am decided between a few 8's right now to buy, and am leaning toward the one with the latest build date- dec 3.
swoope 01-21-2004, 10:29 PM yea that is the best, but i did a vin tsb search. and the only thing affecting my car is wrong size rubber grommets for the stupid plastic engine cover. i cant bring myself to even mention it to the people i bought the car from.
great car, got i hope the gas mpg works out.

RX-Nut 01-22-2004, 01:41 AM hmm how do you do a VIN TSB search?
swoope 01-22-2004, 01:46 AM brother in law is service manager for a toyota dealership in a very, very large auto group.
it helps.

or you could just review the TSBs indicated in this thread (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14453). Cheers,

zoom44 01-22-2004, 05:23 PM when you open the pass thru there is a storage place on the door. that's where i keep my spare quart of oil so that it doesn't roll around in my trunk. see my previous thread on storage, there is a pic there to show you where i mean, as well as pics of most of the other storage spots. although i dont think i posted one of the coin spot or the sunglass holder(which btw is where i keep my tire pressure gauge)
click me for storage pics (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1680&highlight=storage)
swoope 01-22-2004, 05:38 PM nice, cant wait till i figure out how to attach photos. yes i found the one in the pass through. for oil great idea.
how bout the swipe card slots in the sun visors????? anyone catch those???
beers
D MENAC 7 01-23-2004, 11:24 AM Thanks for the info, everyone. I also am thanking you for the nooks and crannies locations. I have to get something for the trunk to keep all the supplies from rolling around such as the windshield washer fluid, several types of wipes and such. The sunglass holder is worthless for the types of sunglasses I wear. Mine never fit because they are too curved. So, I am going to place my air pressure guage in there too. Great ideas guys! Now, gotta go look at my door label to see when this baby was born! Then off to check TBSs list.
Thanks!
D MENAC 7 01-23-2004, 01:47 PM Even though I just got it on 1/10, I knew it was an early build, 07/03. Now I got to find out about any services that should have been performed since I am compiling a list of things they need to correct.
