I can take a few guesses but yeah...

It makes it easier to take the snow off the windshield, and doesn't freeze the rubber part as much.

Its just snow(water). The salt is what kILLS the car. thats why I dont drive it till a week after it snows.

^Exactly. I enjoy driving my car too much to leave it in the garage all winter. However I do make sure she's nice and clean after a run through any salt/sand mix.
