View Full Version : Restless Leg Syndrome
MICHGoBlue 02-09-2010, 12:27 PM So I've been having this sensation in my left calf, it is best described as the sensation you'd get right before a calf cramp happens (I think we've all had calf cramps before, worst thing ever!).
This feeling persists throughout the day, and it's been a couple of weeks now, and I have yet to actually develop a calf cramp.
Just wondering if anyone here has actually been diagnosed with RLS can describe the actual symptom. Articles online do not do a good job describing the actual "sensation".

Feras 02-09-2010, 12:33 PM stretch the calf well, start by putting the toe of your foot as high as you can on a wall and lean forward to stretch the muscle, alternating this by also doing a stretch lunge, make sure to keep the heel of your foot on the ground to get maximum stretch. Likely you don't have restless leg syndrome since a cramplike pain is not expected, its more sharp needly pains and uncontrollable muscle movements.
Do you run a lot? its possible you may have some shin-splints or some other bone related strain
MICHGoBlue 02-09-2010, 01:28 PM I'm not a runner, and it's not a "pain" per se.
It's just the sensation you'd get right before you actually get a calf cramp, weird sensation, not really "painful".
Just started happening about 2 weeks ago.
Feras 02-09-2010, 01:50 PM do you take a multivitamin, eat a lot of salt, not get enough potassium?
Ross_Dawg 02-09-2010, 05:17 PM sounds like something is clogged in your leg :suspect:
MICHGoBlue 02-10-2010, 08:23 AM do you take a multivitamin, eat a lot of salt, not get enough potassium?
I do take centrum, I eat a lot of salty food, and I probably do not get enough potassium.
The last two I understand is detrimental, but explain the taking multivitamin part...
Never realized it had a negative side.
Feras 02-10-2010, 08:54 AM the mutlivitamin doesn't have a negative side, i'm trying to see whether you are well nourished or not. In all honesty i'd go to the doctor and voice your concerns, if its been two weeks of pain that is not getting better. Obviously this could be something as simple as a lingering muscle strain, whether its more serious im not sure, the internet is not the best place to establish a patient history or run diagnostic tests. ;)
MICHGoBlue 02-10-2010, 10:34 AM I just feel silly going to my doc since it's not "painful".
I hate going to the doc's office, almost as much as people hate going to their Mazda dealership lol
But sounds like an appointment is inevitable.
Thanks!
Spinning Sushi 02-10-2010, 10:38 AM If it's on the left leg then it means you need to use the clutch more often.
If it's on the right leg then it means you need to heal-toe more often.
:)
tjbourgoyne 02-10-2010, 12:32 PM Sounds like some type of blood restriction. Does it go away with moderate exercise; running, leg work out or get worse? Doubt you smoke but smoking is known to cause problems in the legs, feet. If you go to the doctor let us know how it goes.
blamerobb 02-10-2010, 12:55 PM Take it ez on the salt. It retains water and doesn't allow the water to hydrate muscles.
Rls sucks. U can't keep ur legs still throughout the day and eslp trying to sleep. See a dr about it
