I'm surprised Mazda couldn't do it. Most tire shops can.

+1 for most tire shops. I wonder if all RX8 wheels locks are the same.

Hay I'm in the Bronx if and I have a wheel lock if u wanna give it a try and if it doesn't fit we can go to home depot and get some sockets and use that to take it off I had to do that with mine so it works

they are NOT all the same. that's the point lol.... Look with the paperwork that camewith your car, there should be something from "McGuard" which was I think the manufacturer of the lug nut set. The original owner should have had a code that you can call them and they can send you another key for them (you have to pay). If you cant find that paperwork, you have to go to a random shop and have them cut them off without damaging your wheels.....

You can take a good quality picture and email it to McGuard. They wil match they key and ship it to you for $20. Had to do it with mine.

Yea that makes sense cuz then all the 8 owners on this forum would be stealing each others wheels ROTFL but u can always just get a socket and use that it works just as good won't damage the wheel studs but u will need to get a new wheel lock

I had to do it. McGuard didn't ask me for any paper work or anything proving I was the owner, which is scary.

All I had to do is give them a Picture of the lock, Shipping Address, and Payment. A week later, I got the key in the mail. It was like $20-$25. Don't believe me? Call McGuard.

The Mazda dealership should have a universal key. I had to get my locks off and my local dealership said they can only take it off, but not provide me a key. I was fine with that, though.

Which dealership did you go to?

I was going to say go to the dealer but everyone else has said it already.... This actually happened to me. I borrowed a members key and it worked. We had the same year 8. Mabye that had something to do with it.

I second the socket + hammer, i lost my wheel lock key and had all 4 locks off in under 15 minutes. Its amazing how useless the wheel locks actually are. The second time I lost the wheel lock key to the new wheel locks i had all off in under 5 minutes.

Socket + hammer + Breaker Bar and you can easily remove the wheel locks. Oh use a name brand socket like craftsman / kobalt. They have lifetime warranties so if you damage the socket for any reason just bring it back and replace it.
