Dynomaster is an app for Android phones that came out yesterday and seems to have some good reviews. Have anybody tried it yet? How accurate is it? I want to see if any of you are using it and what you think of it before I commit to buy it.

It's pretty inexpensive too.

Here are the specs:

Dynomaster provides the following features:

* Record the following track data: position, speed, acceleration, altitude, bearing, absolute time, elapsed times, and power (HP or kW).
* Record your data using multiple trigger modes: by movement, delayed, or by speed.
* View 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, and 60 foot ETs. Create your own custom speed or distance ETs.
* View your track data with graphical analysis on your phone.
* Replay your track data instantly on your phone.
* Share your track data via email, web posting, Twitter, Facebook, and more.
* Send your data to Google Earth for desktop replay, analysis, and editing.
* Send your data as a spreadsheet for analysis in MS Excel or Open Office.
* Enable speech to have your speed and times spoken to you while you're racing.
* Provide real-time ET times and speed to your fans via Twitter.
* Supports metric and English units.
* Click the User Guide link for more information about these and other Dynomaster features.

in the market just search for Dyno, I think I downloaded something called aDyno. I wanted to try it on my way home but I was never first in line at a red light.

Found it, I'm downloading it now. I'm reading the comments on it and it seems like it's pretty buggy.

lol, honestly I can't see how a little app for a cell phone could be accurate.

I'd imagine it can just give ballpark figures by how fast you are accelerating.

Better than nothing, I assume?

also, I lol'd at Kersh4w.

i believe it.

dynolicious said i had a 5.1 0-60 and a 13.8 1/4mile and was putting 225HP to the wheels...that is fairly good ballpark for my vehicle.

I tried using aDyno and it's a pain in the buttocks to use. :(
It seems accurate but the "Orientation" part was hard to use, I need to keep it at a certain angle and it messes up when I accelerate sometimes.

It uses an accelerometer to gauge the HP/Tq figures and trap time.

Here's how it works (this is for the iphone, the app is called dynolicious):

thats pretty impressive that it worked so well for them. but it really didnt work for me.

looking around, maybe i should have bolted my friends iphone to my car. i guess i'll give it another shot.

yeah there's not really a good place to put it in the rx8, in the wrx, theres a rubber pad in the head unit for like sunglasses and stuff, and i stuck it there where it couldn't slide. but in the 8 maybe tape it down to console

haha, i was thinking the same thing! duct tape + center console.

i'll figure something out.

any variance in road slope will affect this. maybe the road i used wasnt flat enough either.

Feras

yeah if you're going downhill it will boost your stats. next time i fly im going to be bad and input in the type of plane im flying in and see what kind of WHP (thrust) can be generated and a 0-60 time.

Hello

you could try this application :
http://www.androidapps.com/tech/apps/450519-racedroid-lite-racedroid-developers

It has been tested against standalone computer with speed sensor, accuracy 1-2% on flat surface. THis is the best you can get with accelerometer in any device. Just make sure it is attached to the car (dashboard, windscreen) and the road is flat (no changes in pitch of the road through the run)

aDyno needs to have very accurate settings for your car in order to be most accurate. Has anyone found all those data for RX8 (pitch, roll, weight)?

There's a database in their forum for all cars/models except RX8.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about aDyno. Btw, have you compared the 2 and see which one is better?

Well I downloaded the dynomaster app to my Evo for $4.99 and customized it by entering all the info pertinent to the 8. Just got to wait until spring to test this out. Oh I downloaded the mazda skin for it too for another $.99. Can't wait to try it out! I got one of those cell phone holders that suction cup to your window (Its been collecting dust in my garage). I plan on using this to keep my phone in a fixed location.
