You can do it Mike.... just jump in your car and drive. It's only a little over 5 hours from Orange to Scottsdale. One night accomodations plus $25 to get in the door and you're there! There's a lot to see that you'll NEVER see on TV:D :D

We drive over every September for Sevenstock. Grab a bunch of SoCal brothers and caravan over.
