View Full Version : Gillette Mach 3 vs. Schick Quattro
allstate 01-20-2004, 10:19 AM I have been a faithful Mach 3 user for about 2 years now but this past weekend I decided to branch out and try the new Quatrro. I must say that I was very impressed. My face felt much smoother after shaving compared to the Mach 3. Since the blades cost the same (both too expensive IMO) I plan to continue with the Quatrro. What does everyone else think?
wakeech 01-20-2004, 10:35 AM this whole multi-razor thing is retarded... i find the Mach 3 already too big to yeild effectively with the sleep barely left my eyes, so i stick to the old Gillette 2 blade razors. cheap is good.
allstate 01-20-2004, 10:39 AM Yeah, I agree. I mean four razors sounds crazy for sure. But I'm telling you it works for me. Cheaper razors rip the hair off my face but the Quattro doesn't even feel like it's cutting anything. I'm convinced.
DragonStar4681 01-20-2004, 11:46 AM well the sound of four blades for my face sounds nice but ya know i just seem to have a problem with 3 let alone 4 on my neck.
RotorBalls 01-20-2004, 11:51 AM mach 3 is all I've used....I started shaving with the gillette two bladded razors and found the mach three to be much better. I haven't tried any other blades cuz I don't wanna purchase a whole new set up so I'm sticking to the mach three for now. If they were to send me a free trial I might switch.
Aratinga 01-20-2004, 11:57 AM Heh. Mach 3 Turbo on these legs... smoooooooth. :)
ZoomZoomH 01-20-2004, 11:57 AM mach3 TURBO is pretty good, noticeably smoother than regular Mach3
maybe i should try this quattro razor sometime...
allstate 01-20-2004, 12:06 PM The Quattro razor was like $7.50. This included 2 razor blades. After the initial $7.50, the blades cost the same as the Mach 3 Turbo.
i use Nair on my face...
all joking aside, i haven't used the Quattro but like allstate says, cheaper razors seem to just rip the hairs off my face as if i'm plucking each one one by one...i've learned the best way to go about shaving with the least amount of friction and the cleanest shave is to first shave with the grain then shave against...i used to just shave against and all i got were nics and cuts
RotaryStalker 01-20-2004, 02:32 PM Well I use an electric for my face but the Mach III for the boys

RotaryStalker My apologies for not creating a category in the poll for that :D
Astor 01-20-2004, 02:42 PM Nothing like a freshly shorn scrotum-Orgasmo (Trey Parker movie-co-creator of SouthPark).
I have used the Mach 3's since they came out, it felt funny at 1st but now I would use nothing less. I tried one of my girlfriend's single bladed bic's and all I got was a red itchy face. I might try the Quattro, this is America, bigger is better.
And I agree, blade prices ($10.00 USD) for 4 Mach 3 turbo blades, however, they last so much longer, especially if you keep the blades in a cup of vodka when not in use. Keeps the blades clean and free of divits.
zoom44 01-20-2004, 04:35 PM agreed. mach 3 turbo for me. i might try the quattro but i have always liked the gillette razors over the schick ones.

Vodka -- never heard of that. I have one of those magnetic things from Sharper Image...it seems to keep my blades sharp longer (I use Mach 3 -- haven't tried Quattro yet).
Astor 01-20-2004, 06:36 PM Keeping it in Vodka is one of the oldest tricks, it keeps the blade from oxidizing (rusting) I can sometimes get 1 or 2 months out of the same blade, but generally change more often just to get the optimal shave (tough beard), also the lube strips seem to dissolve in the Vodka.
takahashi 01-20-2004, 06:40 PM don't tell anyone but I use my wife's Venus occasionally ... shhh... keep it quiet
btw I use the Mach 3 non Turbo version :)... what is the Turbo mean in a razor anyway - blow dry?
Toadman 01-20-2004, 08:25 PM Means it lags on the initial skin drag, then it flings shaving cream all over the mirror/shower.
:D
Dick Carlson 01-20-2004, 10:33 PM Ah, you're all wankers. I use a Norelco ROTARY, what else!
ZoomZoomH 01-21-2004, 12:41 AM i think you meant we're all wankels :D
allstate 01-21-2004, 11:24 AM Well, from the votes so far, it appears that Schick needs to hire a new marketing department.
Superfan 01-22-2004, 11:30 PM I have a Braun 7540 electric razor this is great when I have about 45 minutes to shave. I have alot of facial hair which is all very coarse. So 95% of the time I use the Mach3 Turbo. The other day I bought the Quattro in hopes that it would raplace my Mach3. The Quattro felt like I was shaving with a wire brush. So I'm back to the Mach3. If I need a good close shave, I'll break out the straight edge and badger hair brush.
