SC Need help with rims...

Ok so I've searched for weeks about rims and learned what I can by teaching myself. ( I should probably tell you at this point I am a chick) I have never been into cars until I got my rx8. Anyway, I have an 04 with the stock 18X8 rims. I'd like to find new ones that I won't have to change my tires since they are practically brand new. My tires are 225/45/18 I know that the stock offset of wheels are +50, but what I don't understand is how exactly that works. I'm not asking for a schooling but a brief explanation on how I can find rims that will match my tire size and not have to worry about hurting my baby! All the guys I know that are into cars all of a sudden have no idea about anything.....gone stupid all of a sudden if you will. Also, any advice on the brand would be nice as well.

Thanks in advance!

just look for 18x8....the offset doesnt play into what tire size you can put onto your rims it just dictates how far out it sits. For instance +50 sits further in than +0

I understand its how far it sits out although I didn't write it that way . So an 18x8 with +40 offset will fit just fine and not look retarded?

as long as the wheel itself doesn't look retarded you'll be fine

the tire wont change unless you're close to rubbing in which case people will usually get a small tire and stretch it to give them clearance.

Some rim sizes that will look good:

18x8.5 with an offset of +30 up to +45
18x8 with an offset of +25 up to +40

Those rims widths will allow you to use your stock tires safely.
