Very nice set of instructions, Ron. But now that you've gone to all this work, have you come up with any recommendations for actual replacement speakers? The NX-30 sounds to be the best bet so far... but at $120 for the pair, they're kinda pricey. Any budget alternatives you've found?

Omicron,

First of all I can’t take credit for putting this together but I did find the link and wanted to share with the forum. I agree the NX-30’s look good, I was also looking at the Kicker Resolution R22 1" dome tweeter ~ $150.00. I haven’t made the commitment to buy or cut into the tweeter housing yet but will have to do something soon. I am also looking for something to take-up the space left over from the current 2” dome like a clear plastic ring so I can add a red LED in back to accent the tweeter. I know of a plastics place that might be able to fabricate something for me. Do you have any mounting ideas?

BTW: The cutout for the Kicker R-R22 is 2 3/4". I think the NX30 is 5.25"

I put in a set of Cerwin Vegas on custom inline crossovers. Drilled the holes with a circular holesaw and epoxyed them from behind. They sound awesome.

Do you have the basic or the Bose system?

The basic I have redone the entire system and it sounds awesome The two Jls in the trunk don't hurt none either except for the cost. lol.
