View Full Version : Milky substance on my dipstick....
rotary_it_up 01-19-2004, 12:56 PM I had my oil changed recently at the dealership. The next day after driving about 150 miles, I checked the oil level and found a milky white substance on my dipstick.
From what I have read, it sounds like there is water in my oil.
Is this characteristic of the rotary??
Has anyone seen this issue before??
I want to read some opinions from the experts before I call my dealer's service department. ;)
Thanks
zerobanger 01-19-2004, 01:10 PM oh...I thought you had an STD by reading the title, glad its just your car.
I'd have the oil changed and see if it clears up.
TitaniumRX8MD 01-19-2004, 01:14 PM This is a common issue and not to worry. It has been discussed many times before. There a lot of threads about. Happing searching!
Blue Demon 01-19-2004, 01:23 PM Mine has had this since I bought it (had 550 miles on it). It is there every time I check the oil, even after a 150 mile trip. I just went over 2,000 miles so guess it is okay like everyone is saying.

Sea Ray 01-19-2004, 01:35 PM I am at 2000 and it is clear as somewhat dirty oil can be, as in no milky stuff in mine. I have not had my first change yet.

those were found just using "foam oil" as my search words. im sure you could find more if you used milk or milky and dipstick.
r0tor 01-19-2004, 06:15 PM been there, had that... it will go away once summer hits and there no longer is a 200+ degree temp difference between the oil operating temp and cold start temp.
ZoomZoomH 01-19-2004, 06:16 PM this is the best unintentional comedic thread title I've ever seen!!!
or IS IT unintentional???? ;)
91vert 01-19-2004, 07:53 PM I had so much milky stuff in my dipstick hole (......oh wait.....that still sounds pornographic :D) that even after an oil change I could not even check the oil level. I kept putting the stick in the hole, pulling it out, and having to wipe it off over and over (damn....that sounds nasty too) to get a correct oil level reading.
That stuff was really in there. Makes me wonder if there was THAT much of it in the dipstick hole....how much was/is in the other parts of the engine?
rotary_it_up 01-19-2004, 10:54 PM Today, my girlfriend suggested that she give my dipstick a thorough rubdown before sticking it back in the hole. I figured what the hell....it's worth a shot.
I've got to tell you guys....DO NOT TRY THIS!!!
Now there is more milky white stuff than ever!!!
Efini 8 01-20-2004, 07:16 AM OMG... this thread is CRAZY! Yah... did you intentionally TITLE this THREAD to sound "DIRTY"? good job.
ZoomZoomH 01-20-2004, 11:33 AM any more milky substance on dipstick references guys???

Racer X-8 01-22-2004, 07:58 PM Where does it come from?
What does it consist of?
Do you get any even when it's been resting, settling, not doing anything for a while?
