I'll be interested to see how you controlled the auxiliary ports.

Can't because of the security key/dash/ ECU theft prevention feature in a stock vehicle

The two vacuim operated valves will be activated by thier respective solenoid valve enabled/disabled using a output.
The electrically operated port will be operated by another output (RPM & TPS/MAP) through a circuit I designed

Little black twin relay box + 2 signals from the ECU sorts that out.

Have you tested this system yet? I've heard a lot of people talk about custom APV motor control but I've never seen results of someone who has gotten it to work over a long period of time.

I don't know if this will help, but I used to use this on my Honda days. When we swapped VTEC motors in and didn't have a VTEC ECU this is how we get the VTEC to work.

No it won't help, that's just an on/off switch

Talking Project Update

OK guys, progress has been made over the past couple of weeks and I am please to tell you that I managed to "fire it up" last evening in my closed shop. (Its freezing here in Texas. This was not as "simple" of a project as I anticipated but the light is at the end of the tunnel!
I have taken several pictures (not sure how to create an album on the forum yet) but I am sure I'll get some advise!
Last night, I built the exhaust system which includes a high flow CAT purchased from RP. It's nice and quiet, very smooth, very peppy and can't wait to drive it later on today or Sunday.
I used a "base" Electromotive program file I had in my Rollerskate to start with although it had different injectors. That motor is a half bridge Cosmo (from my drag RX8) before I turbo charged it with stock Cosmo 850 injectors.
Next step is to assemble & complete the "Black Box" for intake control, mount the electric radiator fan, reinstall the heater blower motor so I won't freeze to death then begin the tuning process. Once I have it "drivable", I'll be off to Rotary Performance to see Ari & Chris and the dyno.
for now!

Hi, I have a project like yours an Rx-7 1984 with an engine RX-8 2004 Automatic. I control it with a Microtech LT-10.

Good luck

Project update

I have to confess, this has been the most frustrating engine to "tune" I have ever done. Not knowing anything about how and when all the injectors and manifold valves operated or are staged in the factory ECU has been the challenge. I literally have used up over a tank plus of gasoline just in my shop with the car on the lift.
I am still amazed at how temperamental this combination is where I literally have had to tune each load point/RPM cell by cell, and I haven't been to the dyno yet!

Even adding the custom intake tubing and air cleaner had an effect so I had to start over. Anyway, it's finally ready to take it off the lift and go for a test driveMore to follow with pictures.

From the standpoint of tuning, wouldn't it have been simpler to have done a "frankenstein" engine using the 4 port renesis engine, substituting in the front cover and MOP from the '79, and using the injection , motor mount, and ignition from a GSL-SE?

what exhaust are you running? it sounds nice.

also, i think stiffer motor mounts are in order.

I elected to use the stock first gen. engine mounts but had to fabricate the mounts from the engine to the stock mounts. I considered fabricating a totally new method (to the sub frame) but that would have interfered with the steering etc.

As for the exhaust, I elected to use a high flow cat and the stock pre- silencer which I connected to the "stock" rear muffler. I will change this later but for the tuning "experience, I wanted to keep it quiet and save time.

Are those vintage rubber isolators at the '79 stock mount points or new ones? My recollection from when I had a '79 is that they have a lot of compliance. It looks like you're using new ones, so I would guess they would be softer than originals from '79 (just because of hardening over time).
