Hello everyone,

i have created a chatroom that will be available to everyone 24/7

you must use IRC, i can help you set this up and learn the basics.

a few of the clients people like to use are mIRC (http://www.mirc.com) my personal favorite is Klient (http://www.klient.com)
and if you only want to use it to chat on IRC for RX8 you can use Trillian (http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/downloads/) , it is free as well and just as easy to use. if you choose to use Trillian (http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/downloads/) make sure you get the basic version, the pro version is not free.

finally here is the connection information

Server: irc.zerolimit.net
Channel: #RX8

liquid chick, i would suggest not using trillian i suggested it for those who already used it because it allows you to use it to instant message people on yahoo, msn, aim, icq, and you can use it for irc... if you will chat in the channel alot i suggest you use mirc or klient once you get those pm me and i will get you a script that will auto connect you and join you to the channel based on the client you choose to use.

i have attempted to make this as easy as possible for everyone

download this mirc (http://www.codebowl.com/rx8/rx8_chat.php)

use a compression program to unzip the file, place this folder anywhere you want on your computer and you can then double click mirc.exe and it will automatically connect you to the network and join the channel.

a few commands you will need to know

/nick <nickname>

example: /nick idle0ne

will change your nickname on the server.

we are having a few difficulties with the network so when you try to connect sometimes it says the server is full, just let mirc keep trying to connect. these problems should be over with in a few days.

i have also set it up so that if you are disconnected for any reason it will automatically reconnect and join the channel again :)

there sure is a way to do that and once i see that people are interested in using the chat i will add more rooms for people to use ;)


also on a second note:
as stated above you will see some problems with the chatroom over the next few days until we get it fixed, we are working hard at fixing all the issues, we recently had an admin turn bad and they took down the network, we are back up and are working on getting all of the servers back up. plese bear with me on this problem and i will post here once again to let everyone know things are running smooth again. Please do not hesitate to connect and chat anytime though, i am always in the chatroom unless you connect to a server that is split from the network.

not a problem, i got disconnected i will be back shortly, until my server is fixed i have to wait to connect, once my server is fixed i will update the script to connect to my server ;)

The Network is once again up and stable, please come chat with your RX8 Club friends by downloading the mirc i have posted in the thread above to make things easy :)

also i have updated the script to use my server only so you should have very little problems connecting.

maybe the admins of this site can get an IRC php application so that users can login at the website and chat that way? that would be a very easy way to get people to the chatroom and they wouldnt need to know anything about IRC. i might even be willing to take one that is already made and re-write it to be for RX8Club

it just downloads an mIRC folder on my mac.

mirc will not work with mac, let me get the link for mac clients

Hey, very cool. I use Trillian anyway. I just popped onto the IRC and it works great.
