Thanks. -Sheldon. wampa007 04-14-2010, 03:22 PM If you've had this happen you should report the issue to the NHTSA as a safety issue. Follow the link and click to report a problem. Their website is: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/ The government needs to be aware of the frequency of this problem. The more people that report it the more likely it is to get recalled and have the part properly redesigned and fixed. If not for the fact that a safety recall would result in Mazda picking up the bill for this repair, do it because you may save your own, a relative, or someone else's life. Two instances have officially be reported where the clutch pedal broke off and got lodged behind the brake pedal, preventing the driver from applying full braking power. My biggest concern is if you imagine yourself making a left turn in 1st gear in front of incoming traffic with plenty of time for the expected performance of your RX8 to clear the traffic, but the clutch pedal suddenly fails, preventing you from going into 2nd gear and getting out of the way of traffic, resulting in a collision. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/06/report-nhtsa-investigating-ford-f-150-airbags-mazda-rx-8-clutc/ My report was filed with the NHTSA in April of 2010. ufarooq1 10-25-2010, 08:27 PM it worked dude they extended the warranty RX8pwnage 10-25-2010, 09:46 PM yeah, i got a letter from mazda today stating the clutch warranty is now 8 years/100k. genx 02-07-2011, 04:31 PM Hi I'm new here and I'm very interested in purchasing a used 2004 RX-8 with 89k miles. I am concerned about my safety and for others. If I purchase this car and bring it to a Mazda dealer, will they replace this clutch for free? Thanks in advance. sauceyI986 02-07-2011, 05:14 PM they should becuase its under warr now genx 02-07-2011, 07:20 PM they should becuase its under warr now Thanks! |
